Which promising young prospects does Everton have in their academy at the moment? I imagine that will be a key part of the negotiations.

Take it off whatever money we have left to pay for Richy. Done.

Using made up numbers but no idea what's due on each.

5 million they still owe us for dele, and we owe 40 million for richarleson. We will clear that 5 million now for you, but take 7 million off the last installment for richarleson.

They get money still for richarleson now, cleared 5 million for installments/payments to us and we knock off a few million off the price for richarleson.

It’s a difficult situation for Everton, I get that, but the original deal was already clearly structured to help them out.

To imply that they will be forced to sabotage Dele’s career if we don’t waive a fee isn’t a great look IMO

Agreed.

There is almost three full months until the end of the January window.

If he is back in some sort of training now they'll have up to 6 cost free games to give him a chance to see where he is at.

Dele only has 6 months left of his contract in January as well, so if he does well you can try and negotiate with Dele and Spurs and if he fails to impress just come to a mutual agreement with Dele, allowing him to leave and find maybe a pay as you play contract elsewhere.

I said this before, but if they want help with reducing Dele's cost now, we should offset it with a better offset for us for richarleson at the end of the payments

Drop the 10million fee that everton have on Dele, so they are free to play him as much as they like, and helps their costs which are screwed currently.

In return we have say 15million off the richarleson fee at the end of what ever we are paying. That way it still means everton gets cash in now (on top of not paying us) and we pay less for richarleson in the long run.

I’m being very sentimental but would like to bring him home and work to get him in a good place for his next move.

Sadly, there's no room for that sort of sentimentality. There's also no need for us to be doing Everton any favours. They got themselves in this mess.

They did, but by all accounts if we don't agree to find a compromise they are in effect saying that they won't play Dele again so that they won't have to pay us anything as he won't have reached 20 games/appearances that trigger the first payment clause.

They're saying to Spurs that if you want to receive any money at all, and if you want to help out your former play Dele to get back playing games, we need to renegotiate.

As it stands I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play for Everton again, Spurs get zero from the transfer, and Dele stays at Everton until next summer when his contract expires.

I relasie it is what the media are saying about the structure of the deal etc, but I would be amazed if Levy left us open to the risk that Deli doesn't play 'x' number of games and Everton can let his contract expire and we get nothing. Levy seems too astute for that.

Sometimes you have a player, like Ndombele for example, that you would love another team to buy and give a hefty transfer fee but there are no serious takers. So then you're stuck with a player who won't play and yet we still have to pay their massive wages. Look at how Bale was stuck at Madrid... no one was prepared and able to pay a transfer fee and to cover all his huge wages.

In the end you take the best possible deal on the table, in this case an incentivised deal to Everton so at least they will pay all his wages, and then fingers crossed Dele finds his form then Everton will pay us a fee relative to how much he plays for them.

Levy is astute enough to understand the sunk cost fallacy. If that was the best deal available to move Dele on we had to take it.

Absolutely NOT !!!

The two sides of football fandom.

From my perspective, if the facilities are there and the environment at Spurs would help him during his recovery, or tackling the challenges he faces right now, bring his ass back and get those wheels turning. We don't "owe" him anything, there'd be no expectation to sign him back to the squad or be included in games, it would simply be to help him get his head right and give him the opportunity to get back on track (whichever track that is) - that would be great and I'd be 100% behind that.

He's not a poisonous person in the changing room, nobody has said that, so if it's an option then I'd have no gripes whatsoever.

More than happy for Dele to be brought back to Spurs in some form of ambassadorial role, or to work with youngsters or anything like that. Would also have no problem with him training at Spurs if he needed to. But to have him back as an active member of the playing squad? Absolutely not unfortunately. Sentiment can only go so far. Club should 100% be there for him if and when he needs support or a new career path though.

Fully agree if Ange is on board. Ange is pretty ruthless about these things but if he sees something in him that he might, not necessarily will, bring out, what's the risk? He wouldnt' train with the first team of course. Ange does seem to be the type of coach that can get the best out of certain players with challenges that are willing to put in the effort.
