No thanks. Ba is the most overrated player in the league IMHO. Yes, he's a brilliant finisher, but it ends there, and he hasn't been very impressive since joining Chelsea. 6 goals in 22 games for Chelsea (3,67 games per goal) is only slightly better than Adebayors 8 goals in 32 games (4 games per goal), and much worse than Defoe's 15 goals in 43 games (2,87 games per goal).

I think Adebayor is a better player, and Defoe is a great chap, so I'd rather keep them than signing Ba.

You do realise that this is EXACTLY what AVB's preferred system requires, don't you? He (AVB) expects his wider attacking/creative players to be bursting into the box & getting shots away, or whipping balls across the box, whilst the central striker does what our current strikers are incapable of doing, ie putting away the rebounds from the shots, or the balls whipped across the box. Ba would, in my opinion, be better at THFC than he was at Newcastle.

Also, your goal stats don't take into account the minutes played. Ba was mostly coming from the bench (I believe) whereas Defoe was our main striker for most of the season up until around February. Your stats also don't take into account that Defoe only scored 1 goal after New Years Day, I believe? Or was he the one that only scored 1 since Boxing Day? Look at the games which Ba was mostly a starter, ie cup games. You'll see 4 goals in 6 FA Cup games, hardly shabby??

i thought due to his knee problems a club wasn't able to get insurance on him? I could be hideously wrong though

Chelsea being owned by a sugar daddy can afford to write off £7.5m if his knee injury ends his career, we can't.

We should sign him - our knee specialist equpiment and staff have felt lonely and unloved since Ledley retired.

Chelsea can afford to write off the £7.5m fee, and presumably would also have to settle the outstanding wages on his contract which could double the loss.

Adebayor had the 2nd highest goals/assists in the EPL the season before last, only RVP had more.

Unfortunately we're not in that season anymore mate. However, I'm one of few who feel we should not be getting rid of him, at least not before getting rid of Defoe. Ade, although very 'off song' for most of last season, looked to return to the player you speak of, in the last few weeks of the season. He then came out & said he's been struggling with an injury and fitness but now feels better again & looking forward to next season. So, if we can have the Ade that you're talking about back for next season, the picture at THFC will make for much better viewing. After all, he WAS immense in his first season for us. Defoe on the other hand, well, if he ain't scoring, he ain't doing anything. This can't be said of Adebayor. He makes defenders think twice about things, Defoe is not capable of that (sorry JD), so hopefully it'll be him who gets itchy feet first. IF he's serious about "doing everything possible to get on that plane to Brazil", for next years World Cup, he may not have a choice but to find a new club. Not being mean but he's unlikely to get enough minutes for us next season for him to do that. It's a pity that he's too old for Lambert to consider, I think Defoe, Benteke, Weimann = A pretty nice front 3. He'd do well at Villa.

Ade was terrible last season, this was mainly due to him having no preseason, then getting injured, then going to the ACoN and finally the tactics employed by AVB and Adebayor not adjusting to them i.e Bale and Ade always getting in each others way.

I know that if Ade has a preseason under his belt, his form will return. As for Defoe, the sooner he leaves forever, the better.

He also got the bulk of those goals and half the assists in just 7 games, it somewhat highlights both his strengths and his weaknesses, OK playing against teams that suit his game but we need a main striker that actually gets in the box and looks to get on the end of the passes and crosses played there, not sitting deep or running the flanks
I think we'll find it hard to offload him but I hope we can and that we can get in a striker that fits our game and the strengths we have

You know what's really sad about this? You're absolutely spot-on, and the only player we currently have who does do that, is constantly mocked & proclaimed as "not good enough" for THFC. That man is Clint Dempsey..... I'm not saying he should be our striker (wouldn't dream of that). I'm simply pointing out that it's bloody depressing that he's the only player we have who does currently do that.

How many top teams have strikers who get into the box and onto crosses? And most of Ade's goals last season was him getting onto crosses, guess where?

Inter away, Everton home, did he score any more goals?

United = Hernandez, RVP, Rooney....

Chel$ki = Torres, Ba, Lukaku....

Man City = Aguero, Tevez, Dzeko....

Arseanal = Giroud (he does attack the box & get onto crosses), Walcott (did it all season)....

Liverpoo = Suarez (one of the best at it), Sturridge....

Everton = Jelavic & even (yep even) Anichebe....

Wet Spam = Carroll (he will sign permanently), Vaz Te....

Swansea = Michu....

I can't think of anymore right now (and truly can't be bothered to check the internet, mate), but the point is ALL of those are strikers who get into the box, attack crosses and generally benefit from doing that. None of our current strikers attack anything at all in the box :(

I would bite Chelsea's hand off for Ba. He is strong, scores goals that present themselves to him and works perfectly as a lone striker. I believe we are getting a little picky if we would turn our noses up at Ba. Is he the greatest striker in the world, No but he is solid and would get enough goals to make him worthwhile if you ask me.

He wouldn't be my first choice but we can't ever seem to get a striker in at Spurs so I would be happy if he came in.

Chelsea won't do business with us, no chance of him coming to Spurs

Think this kind of sums up this transfer rumor.

Hope I'm wrong though. Wouldn't mind Ba a spurs..... Only because he'd be cheap to get on the back of a shirt :)
