Part of the feature :

He (Dempsey) is one of three Sounders that featured regularly for the U.S. in 2013, joining Brad Evans and Eddie Johnson. Those three, and other MLS-based players with eyes on Brazil next summer, may take advantage of loan stints with European clubs this offseason to breed more competition as the World Cup approaches.

“We made it clear, our priority number one for them is finding a team to get on loan for January-February into March, or if that is not possible, you have to be with us in January camp. That is mandatory,” Klinsmann said.

January camp will begin January 6 in Carson, California.

The U.S. squad for the friendlies is absent of several other MLS players, as well. Landon Donovan and Clarence Goodson are both out with injuries, while Kyle Beckerman, Nick Rimando, Brad Davis, Graham Zusi and Matt Besler all weren’t included while their club teams remain in the MLS Cup Playoffs.

Along with Bill Hamid, Sean Johnson, Omar Gonzalez and Chris Wondolowski, Evans and Johnson are among the group mentioned by Klinsmann.

“If a player has the opportunity to go on loan, you’ve got to go for it. You’re in real competition, you’re in a real competitive environment, you’ve got to have a point to prove and kick-start 2014 that way,” Klinsmann said. “We all observe their individual situation. Whenever we can be of help, we will be.

Aah ! Slap in the face for the likes of Sigurdsson and Chadli ! (BC - no heart attacks please !)

Its an option but surely not ?

He did well enough for us while here, got a great move for him back to the USA. But I feel this would be a GIANT step backwards for the club. Ok we haven't been scoring a shed load of goals but not just Siggy and Chadli. Eric, Kane, Holtby and Townsend are the future and I feel we should keep going forward and not take this option of bringing someone to the club for such a short period of time(if it is there?). Many fans didn't like Dempsey when he was here and this must be taken into account by the club as the club (AVB) has asked for more volume of support- would Demsey get this? I support Spurs and any player who tries for the cause; so for me in this respect not a problem. But please no.

Completely unessecary and will only hinder Holtby, Eriksen, Sigurdsson, Lamela and Townsends progression because of AVB's facination with Dempsey who is a significantly inferior player to those mentioned.

And the 'scores important goals' mantra is a load of rubbish. Anybody who knows a thing about football knows Dempsey is more of a detriment to our side than a positive in the grand scheme, especially with the squad we have now.

It's an interesting one.

I think Dempsey did offer some goal threat in his short period at Spurs. He was hindered by a lack of passers to pick out his runs as well as his obvious lack of all-round ability.

In the current team I think he'd score more goals than he did last season.

But I think AVB's challenge is get the talented squad we have now to create more and be more clinical rather than rely on a passenger.

Would love it if he came back mainly for the hissy fits that will be thrown on here

No, if for no other reason than so we don't have to put up with Dempsey2 or Deuce2 or whatever his name was again

100% in favour of this, but only because it might finally drive away a few of the fans who think things are so terrible at the moment.

I say bring back Andy Booth and Noe Pamarot at the same time.

I don't doubt that Dempsey would jump at the chance but if this is a serious suggestion put forward by Andre then words fail me.

I would take him back on the basis of the contributions he made and his loyalty for us last season. Not to mention the competition he would provide to the players (the players would take one look at him and swear to AVB never to play so badly ever again). However I think the team's at a really tentative stage at the moment, trying to build a rhythm and a new face (or old?) would just disrupt that. Overall I'd have to say no. Sorry Clint.

Edit - I just realized how bi-polar my comment was. SC is getting to me

Sorry, I'm confused. Are you suggesting we get him back on loan or is it the article?

Anyway..... computer says no.

He wouldn't fit our system would he? Most of his goals were inside the box for us

No way, we are slow and predictable as it is. Can you imagine our football with him back
