Napoli are reportedly set to go head-to-head with Tottenham Hotspur for Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez who is said to have a €40m release clause.

El Mundo Deportivo claim the 23-year-old could be on the move this summer and the Italian side are prepared to stump up €35m to land Denis this summer while Spurs are also pondering making an approach.

Ernesto Valverde, the newly appointed Coach at the club to replace Luis Enrique, is reportedly unconvinced by the midfielder – who spent time on loan at Sevilla and Villarreal – and is open to his sale.

However Suarez, who has already won one cap for Spain, is said to want to prove his doubters wrong and force his way into the reckoning at the Camp Nou.

Interesting link. I think he'd be an alternative to Barkley, as he's a creative AM who could start centrally or on the right or the left of a 3 AM setup.

But he's not the pacy Zaha / Balde type we've also been linked with, so I can't see us signing both Suarez and Barkley.

I rate him, but if we are looking for young, clever AM/Wingers I would prefer we try for Pulisic.

I'm American, unbelievably biased here, and also believe he'd be absolutely perfect for us. But with BvB probably selling Dembele he's never moving. I'd also shudder to think what that transfer fee would look like. If Barcelona are willing to move Suarez though we should be all over that. He shouldn't even be available, but it doesn't surprise me that he is. Barcelona is being horribly mismanged right now and this transfer might be more likely than people think.

He is the proper Eriksen competition. Classy player. He was really good for Villareal & at Barca is starved of chances.

But given our interest in Barkley , can't see this happening. I would say one or the other.
