Clauses as what? RM forfeiting The rest of the money for VdV? That's int there. Must be worth something ;)

True, I did see that in there - I wonder the monetary value of that.

The price of the Welshman could be even higher than 101 million, since the contract shows that Los Merengues renounced to receive from Tottenham the amount Spurs owed them for Raphael Van der Vaart’s transfer. The Dutch reportedly cost 10.3 million euros.

According to the VDV leaked contract, the final installment of €2.625m (£2.240m at time) for VDV was due on the day of the Bale contract, so I'd assume from the clause in the Bale contract that we were able to waive that payment. So that would make the total sale of Bale worth ~ £87.4m.

Tottenham to pay the sum of €10,5001000 payable as follows:
(i) €2,625,000 48 hours after registration;
(ii) €2,625,000 on 31 August 2011;
(iii) €2,625,000 on 31 August 2012; and
(iv) €2,625,000 on 31 August 2013

depends. dimaria and ozil played really well the season before they were sold. madrid has a knack of making illogical decisions so i wont rule them out selling bale someday. if a new world class amr emerges i wont be surprised if bale gets sold.

There's an article by Sam Wallace in today's Sunday Telegraph. Nothing that new in it but it mentions how the Spanish banks bought the Promissory Notes mentioned in the Bale sale contract. So basically Spurs weren't owed money by RM on the later instalments, We were owed by Spanish Banks. And so the Spanish Banks effectively 'loaned' the money to RM less than a year after the Spanish banking system had been bailed out by Europe. The Telegraph article implies that there may be more to come out yet (due to the vagueness of some of the amounts written off - eg. the VDV deal and perhaps Modric's) and that maybe Barcelona will want to see RM's deal to purchase Bale scrutinised, given Barcelona's own well publicised problems.

Have many other Prem clubs had transfers leaked? Makes you wonder where all this is going.

What about the rumours that RM have reneged on payments for Bale? Any truth in that? Appears he can be bought back for 50m quid :D

Any rumours they've 'reneged' wouldn't make sense. The remaining "Bale money" still owed to us is £20m due on 24th July this year (2016). The rest has already been paid in 2013, 2014 and 2015. The final £20m is due from whichever Spanish bank bought the relevant Promissory Note from us at the time of the deal. Under Clause 3 of the Contract, RM was obliged to find banks to buy the Notes from us (otherwise the whole transfer fee became immediately payable to us by RM back in 2013).

Agreed.

Which means if we write that off, we're only 55 million short.

With 14 to come from Townsend and the 20 million from the Berahino bids, we're not that far away.... ;)

So I am pretty sure the leak is from Real Madrid's end. Bale, Ozil and VDV have now leaked.

RM's fax stamp is on VDV's transfer papers as well.

Bale earns 300k a week mate.
don't worry, I don't think we'd have a chance of closing the deal AND don't think Madrid will sell (his clause is one billion euros!)
But, love the fact that the Manc loving journos keep talking about a deal for Bale without factoring in how much fun Levy would have with this clause. Remember what he did to Pool over Danny Ings and multiply that by 20!

Bale earns 300k a week mate. Not a chance.
I work in the entertainment industry, and I find it strange people think this is the way it only works

A basic wage isn't the only way to pay a player, sometimes a player is paid in different ways including keeping their image rights

If a player gets to keep his full image rights that it can be very lucrative for him

When real Madrid signed the Galaticos, they all agreed on a 50-50 split. Ronaldo apparently managed to get more of a percentage off real madrid and then sold them to Peter Lim last year

Yea we cant £300k a week, but we could pay him half that(which would probably be less than what we paid for Adebayor when you consider our revenue was much lower back then) and then let him keep his image rights

Of course this is unlikely to ever happen but its worth noting wages aren't necessarily as a big hurdle as people make out

Bale's injuries are starting to stack up. He's been available for just over half of their fixtures the last two seasons. He'd be a bit of a gamble at 90-100 million.

We'd have won the league with him in the team this season. He'd tear Wembley up next season. All that big open space.

Come home Gareth. You were born to play for Spurs.
