I may be being naive... But I didn't realise quite how much we are hated by some fans up and down the country!

You have to remember that up north most Londoners are pretty despised. The fact that we spend alot of cash cultivates a sort of "big time London charlies" feeling, without the trophies that Arse and Chelsea have to back it up in recent time.

Shitty fans obviously have their knickers in a twist because we're a threat to them, but outside our local rivals we seem to be well liked. Man Yoo fans seem to especially like us. The missus points out some of the posts on RedCafe that are almost affectionate.

I like to think its because we're a club with a tradition of playing decent football and underachieving. Or maybe its because we're now Man Yoo's feeder club? Either way, i'm not going to lose sleep over the mad, illiterate rants of Man Shitty fans.

From my own perspective I've never encountered anything like that from football fans apart from local rivals. In point of fact, whenever I've spoken to a football fan they have had nothing but affection and/or respect for Spurs outside of the usual ribbing and banter.

Personally, I wouldn't take anything said on that forum particularly seriously, and it's summed up by the fact that they hate us because we beat them in Cup Final. That demonstrates how petty-minded they are. Do we hate Coventry for beating us in '87? No. It's called football. Most of the upper part of the entire League will have probably beaten Man City at some point. DO they reserve scorn for every single one of them?

They're just being idiotic, and I serioulsy doubt that it's reflective of the way we are perceived by the footballing public as a whole.

The only reason they hate us is because we are one of their main rivals for fourth. I could go on to say that they have absolutely no right to even be in the hunt for Champions League football considering before billions came in the most they could hope for was an Intertoto Cup place (and that was an overachievement aswell), but I don't want to lower myself to their ill-educated level... Oops.

I don't take any Englishman seriously who can't grasp English. That and people who think they know about football but plainly don't, which these particular Man City fans show in abundance.

There's a "Spurs Hatefest" thread on a Villa forum. I've seen threads on Everton, Newcastle, Liverpool and, obviously, West Ham forums for people to share how much they hate Spurs.

It really amazes me that we are hated so much. Everyone from the chairman, manager, players and fans is despised, it seems.

I just don't get it. We have one of the few chairmen that has run the club properly, making us one of the few clubs to have little or no debt.

We do a lot of work in the community and for charity.

We have a good English manager who, fair enough, is a bit of a marmite character in his interviews.

We play free-flowing, open, attacking football that is pleasant for neutral fans to watch.

We don't dive or cheat or play dirty.

We have a good English core running through the team.

And every away game we have, our supporters are louder than the home crowd.

We should be, at least, respected as a football club for the way we're run and the way we play. But we're very disliked by fans that really shouldn't have reason to dislike us.

And, yet, you never see a "Let's all hate Whoever F.C" thread on Spurscommunity. We are quite complimentary to teams that actually play proper football.

We are hated in London Wet Spam Chelski and A5sena1 (Millwall hate everyone) class us as there biggest London derby (love it), Newcastle is another club I personally was surprised of the hatred.

I guess they are just getting over excited at the fact that they actually have something to play for this season after years of relegation and mid table mediocrity. We are their main rivals to that golden ticket that is 4th place, we always beat them, so I guess that's two reasons they hate us.

City always balls it up, at least in the past. Their the spurs of the north really. I've never really had a prob with them, their fans are pretty vocal and decent.
