"However, when asked whether he had spent the fortnight ahead of tomorrow's trip to Hull working specifically on his central defensive skills, as suggested, Pochettino's answer was an unequivocal "No!" His assistant Jesus Perez explained: "When we do defensive and attacking exercises we always rotate the players so they each get to experience all of the positions."
This is a quote from Poch in that article:http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...chettino-Eric-Dier-England-U21-Euro-2015-news

Interesting quote. And I like that they do that in training.
But to return to the earlier point, where does this story that Poch was angry / disappointed with Dier come from? I don't recall any such thing.
This is a quote from Poch in that article:
"The player said he never refused to play right-back for Gareth, he just asked Gareth to release him so he could have a couple of weeks working with us."
It does sound believable, that a young player who has been struggling, might want to miss a U21 friendly to train with the club. How many players have asked to be released from Int duty as they don't want to play that position? How did Dier know he was going to play RB for England, did he ask Southgate before asking to be released and if so, would Southgate have been so supportive?Being real does that sound believable to you? When have you heard of a player asking to be released from international duty to spend a couple of weeks training with his club?
It was discussed on here. It was suggested that poch thought that playing for country was an honour and he felt disappointed that Dier 'chose to stay at spurs ' for CB specific training. If this was the case the management team would of supported his story rather than blatantly show his story was a bag of crap.

It was the U21s, he could have been struggling and still been no better options than him. Plus Townsend has been called up to the senior national team when struggling for form (and before you say it, there is nothing to suggest Dier would have asked to be released had he had a senior call up).If he was struggling why was he called up for international duty? It makes no sense to ask to train with his club as he does this everyday. Players are briefed surely, he wouldn't need to ask. Players don't ask to leave international duty.. To train specifically in a position, which was also denied by the club. The quote from Poch was "No" he didn't do specific training.
Has he been called up got any u21 games since?
No he didn't.The point remains that Dier said he wanted to stay and train CB specific. When poch was asked did this happen Poch said "No" that doesn't sound like support for the player at all.
