What's with your thread title? (Am I really the first one to ask that?)From our local paper:
'Former Premier League star Simon Davies signs for local village team Solva - and will take his turn to wash the kit'
A FORMER Premier League star who earned tens of thousands pounds a week has signed for his local village team - and will have to pay £3 a week for the privilege of playing.
Simon Davies, the former Wales skipper, put pen to paper at Solva AFC’s home game on Saturday, having made a cameo appearance for the club during a friendly last summer.
The 34 year-old previously played for Peterborough United,Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Fulham and won 58 caps for Wales.
He captained Wales during their 2010 World Cup qualifiers before announcing his international retirement the following August.
The midfielder, worth around £4 million in his prime, will now have to pay £3 subs like everyone else on match day, and take his turn in washing the kit.
And rather than trips to Anfield to play Liverpool and Old Trafford to take on Manchester United, Simon will be facing the rather more low key journeys to Prendergast Villa and Milford Athletic.
