@Archibald&Crooks - please could you take a short break from being all metrosexual and well hung, and let me know who other than POTL announced we were signing Willian?

Is having a thread highlighting why we are classy a bit of a hypothetical move?

But regardless.... yep I think on the whole, we are doing a lot of things right/classy!

Remember Alan Sugar spouting off in the press all the time?
Jesus it was toe curling, I think West Ham are feeling a three pronged version of it at the moment bless them

We are much improved in the PR department, we don't get anything from Levy which is good, chairman should be seen and not heard.

I go along with a couple of other posts, although I hate them Arsenal as a club do tend to conduct themselves in a decent way, can't always say the same of their players over the years.

Very much this. How much do we actually know about Levy? I mean aside from that he's a shrewd negotiator. The guy keeps his business very much behind closed doors and only lets out what he strategically needs to. It's really helped with Poch also managing to keep things in house and coming across very well in his interviews. On one hand, I actually find them more boring to watch than those that Redknapp, AVB or Sherwood used to give, but at the same time I cannot fault his approach for not giving too much away.

Can you imagine if Twitter had been around when Ken Bates was Chelsea Chairman?!?

Yeah the "you're shit" chant is embarrassing.

Thought it was funny when we were spanking West Ham 4-1. Or when we scored three goals in about five minutes against Man Utd. But when it's sung when we're battering someone like Hull or Sunderland....classless.

Agreed, although it does make me smile that we're now in a position as a team to sing that and half get away with it.

Stamford Bridge last season.

Frustratingly, Chelsea always seem to escape from two-way tussles unscathed. Chelsea v Man City is the most recent example, with Fabregas slapping Fernandinho and then throwing himself over the sponsor board.

They got fined heavily for both incidents didn't they?

Who cares ? We're talking about billionaire clubs. Managers can spout off stuff about referees and happily pay the fine as it plants the seed into their next games match officials. Teams can brawl all they want, the club (not neccessarily happily) pays the fine. The only way to hurt/punish these teams is a points deduction. The issue there is the FA/PremierLeague is too weak to take this action.

Because fines are meant to be deterrents which means if they carry on they face points deductions, it's not happened yet but the Premier League won't want anyone bringing their league into disrepute.

I agree in principle BUT how many times have Chelsea been involved in brawls/unsavory incidents in the last few seasons ? The FA are as weak as piss. Chelsea could be involved in an off the bench full blooded brawl next week and the FA would fine them and (once again) threaten with a point deduction. Points deduction ? Sorry, not going to happen.

The game at Stamford Bridge last season was my proudest moment of the team. The triple Dier hacking was fucking sensational. The eye gouge... Superb. The yellow cards were fucking brilliant.

We became men that night.

Overall though I think we do do things correctly and run like a business. Let's out it this way, three or four years ago it was the big four and the rest now we are considered as the big six.

...back in the day we were part of the big 5 - Manure, Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton...Chelsea and Man City weren't even thought of in that context. I guess its about time we returned to the big time.

Congratulations to Harry Kane for his 'assist' in the birth of daughter Ivy Jane...but that's all it was. All the heavy work was done by your girlfriend, Harry - although you might not think so from his tweet that opens "Me and @KateGoodlandx had our beautiful baby girl..." The lad wins no points from me for strangling the English language - or for good manners.

I suppose he'll just have to be happy with the 3 points he took of her by scoring twice in the last minute.

They were fined a five figure sum, which is probably equivalent to a normal person being fined 50p or so...not exactly my definition of "fined heavily".

What I meant is that none of their players were suspended, when they probably should have been banned for 3+ games. Fernandinho and Dembele deserved their suspensions, but I fail to see how they were the only ones banned.
