Do you think we'll ever see Zokora's name on the scoresheet?

Anyone who doesnt want to see him in the team based on his recent form (including a decent centreback showing) should be stabbed in the eye for wasting their eyesight.

On a side note I predict (and mark my words) that Didi will score a goal at the city of Manchester stadium in 2008, in a month beginning with the letter 'M'.

He was truly awful against City on Sunday

I thought he played pretty well! Nothing special... but did a pretty decent job of tracking back and winning the ball back... which seems to be his new role in the team...

2 ways we'll see his name..

1) Zokora (OG)

2) after we sell him and he scores on a return to WHL with his new team... urmm .. I predict Wigan. A 30 yard screamer to draw 1-1.

Surely if Steve Coppell knows anything about team building he will take Zokora to Reading and form the most deadly midfield partnership (of Zokora and Emerse Fae) since the days of Vieria and PEtit.

If he doesnt do this he should be sacked and Reading deserve to go down.

Topic title really should be:

Do you think we'll ever see Zokora's protect the back 4 against decent opposition?

Personally I think Zokora is shit and the sooner the African Nations comes the better so he can stop the midfield being more wobbly than Jane Goody's tits. He's a liability, always running aimlessly, skidding past the opposing players and then watching them slice the defence to pieces. Bottom line: the defence needs cover and we aint gettin it cos he aint giving it. Forget the stats etc. He's pony. We need a player who's performances will give us something to write good things about week in week out. i.e Bale. And to stick with the thread, I've lost count of the amount of times i've sat back down before Zokora's even reached the opponents box on one of his runs, I'm sure many of you feel exactly the same. Even if he does score, it would be a one-off. I'm sure he's gonna have a hard time getting back in to the 1st eleven when he gets back from the African Nations cup especially as KPB and Hudd r looking like improving players.

I think Zokora has been made out to be worse then he really is, he has played better in some respects of late as well as having patches of reasonably good form last year.

However the bottom line is based on what he has shown during his time with us he is at best an average player and not good enough for what we want from our midfield. He is ok and best and I personally dont seem him magically becoming a much better player anytime soon.

I think we need more quality in the middle and he will need to be replaced (upgraded) we paid through the nose for him and doubt we would get the money back from a sale so he will probally stay as a back up. Hopefully the ANC will force our hand in buying a better player for his role and this time we will find someone who will come in and make a real impact

well i scored with him last night on pro evo finally, i was amazingly happy.

this is an omen everyone, put some bets on scoring against pompey, maybe not as good as how he scored for me , maybe an accidental goal by it hitting him on the way in.

by the way if he is so shit how comes we still got fifth last season with him in the middle of the pitch all the time, im guessing our crap form this season must be all his fault.

not saying we couldnt do better but he isnt the worst player ever and its a tough thing to try and replace someone like carrick, funny though i remember when we had carrick people wouldnt stop complaining about him

Without attributing it to one player. Still love this old chestnut.....Luck, an extaordinary amount of good fortune. Well balanced by the amount of favour 'chance' has delivered this season.

As for Zokora scoring....i'd back probability that he will become disorientated on one of his surges and plough into the net.

thats a hell of a lot of luck when he played the majority of games last season. As i said he isnt the best player ever but he certainly isnt the worse

Goose...I'm saying 'without attributing to one player'. ie. Zokora, or no Zokora, we were v.lucky to reach 5th.

ps: I actually rate him as having been seen in the proximity of a 'Football brain'. Unlike some of his comrades.

at the man city game he looked like he didn't want to shoot when there was not much else on even. on at least 2 occasions. a bit like the kid who gets picked last in playground football.

embarrassing.

The thing is, he chooses the wrong times to shoot. He'll try his luck when we're a goal down with 10 minutes left, not when we're 2 or 3 up with 10 minutes left.

But then again, when are we ever 2 or 3 up with 10 minutes left?

It is his footballing brain that is precisely the problem, or rather the fact that he doesn't own one.

He has physical attributes but they don't compensate for his lack of technical ability and his non existant footballing brain.

 given his 'proximity' it might give you some idea of how i rate his colleagues.

All the Zoko haters:

Was Pompey (today) a good performance, or bad?

I'd like to honestly know, cos I think he look very accomplished for at least 85% of the game playing centreback. Got away with one free-kick awarded to him, but by and large accomplished.

So anyone think he's not been good cover?

Do not like Zokora in central midfield but i've been very impressed with him deeper. Reads the play very well when everything is infront of him and sweeps things up well.
