Ha ha...cheers for that, that's me told, I'll go and sit on the naughty step with my two kids, although I might struggle as something has been shoved up my arse :)

I just find it strange that so many managers/coaches have picked him or continued to pick him to play at a high level. O'Neill, Redknapp, AVB, Sherwood, Poch, Capello, Hodgson. But hey, what do I know?
Same with lots of players though..

How many players get picked that we have no understanding of why they are picked, but they consistently get picked despite not being good enough. I think walker has had it lucky since he has had no real competition, so I am hoping the the new guy Yedlin takes his chances, he looks like he can pass.

And not a single one of those managers has been successful, except Pooch who is still with us and has no really option but to play walker as the new guy is not ready/injured at the moment. The two England managers have fucked up the cups they have been in... So yeah... it really does say a lot.

Sorry, there have been plenty of coaches from youth teams etc that have posted on this forum, that have said that and that is why I am saying it.

So you can shove your sarcasm back up your arse.

I gave an honest opinion, I am not involved in football in anyway, but I do trust people who actually run/manage youth teams and I believe them when they say club scouts over look talented players because of their build.

Deal with it. You only have to look at the England team for the last 10 years to see how shit we are.
What you are describing is like a disease in the English leagues for the last 40 years scouting players for their physical/athletic prowess over Skill and the ability to create time and space for yourself.

As I said in the match day thread he drives me mad! A player who believes his own hype. All he has is pace and a fairly good engine. he has no end product and can't really defend and even worse has a petulant foul in him of he loses his temper, normally in a dangerous area for the opposition to bang in a cross from a freekick. I honestly wouldn't be sorry to see him leave if we replaced him with someone better.

The education of Kyle Walker

1. Look at the left back's feet.
2. Push the ball past him
3. Run past him like a samelar hound
4. Pretend to cross but dont.
5. Pass to nearest teammate.
6. Repeat

What we'd all like:

1. Look at the left back's feet
2. Nutmeg the twat
3. Run past him like a majestic samelar hound
4. Cross well
5. Negated. He crossed well.
6. Soldado gets his head to it and scores!!!!!

This is what people want.

I'm only joking. I don't really rate Walker but I'm not sure there are many decent right backs in the Premier League right now - I think he's alright...

you arent going to find many RBs who effectively cover as much space as Walker in England, and he is effective. Danny Rose actually does a similar job on the left, though less disciplined defending than Walker, and more of a threat going forward. We are lucky to have the combination, IMO.

That is what lot of people have been saying, and some of the youth coaches too.

I think there has been a change in recent years though and it will take time to come through. Just look at Southampton.

They do seem to be looking for technical ability only 50 years since 1966

I don't expect him to be world class - but is it too much to expect a professional footballer to be able to put a decent fucking cross in?

I convinced that I can cross the ball better Walker. Its not all that difficult to beat really, head to your nearest park for proof.

Have no idea what happened today. Missed the game.

Kyle Walker is the thickest footballer I've ever seen in a spurs shirt. And anyone who believes he is dangerous going forward, can be rated just as high on the intelligence scale.

Who could we realistically buy as a better option than Walker?

P.S. Clyne or Coleman isn't the answer

It's like half you lot want fucking 11 Ronaldo/messi/lahm cross breeds on the pitch. FFs they are humans, they have good and bad games, some can dribble , some can pass , some are fast , some can tackle etc. some can do a couple of these at a very high level and fewer still can do more.

Walker is a good right back, on his day he is very good. As for the most over used saying in football today when criticising a player to make the poster seem like he or she is a fucking brain surgeon " he hasn't got a football brain " do me a favour, he is playing at the highest level you can in this country and what walker does he does very well imo.

Has he been at his best since his injury, no, but he will I am sure get back to that level. I also believe he misses Lennon a bit too the two of them complimented each other well.

Tbf it is absolutely criminal that any professional footballer can't cross a football into a penalty area. It baffles the hell out of me.

I rate Walker but I worry he won't ever improve his weaknesses due to how thick he appears to be.

He's been making the same mistakes for a while now (i.e. giving away dumb free kicks in dangerous areas for being overly aggressive even if the opponent is going nowhere, letting cross field balls drop over his shoulder etc).

He's got such ability though. I'm hopeful Poch can get through to him and help him fulfil the undoubted potential.

Clock has started to tick though, and we know that Poch doesn't suffer fools gladly.

What ability does he have just out of interest?

If you are talking about being fit, strong and quick then yes I agree with you. He's an athlete.

He has no actual footballing ability IMO. His first touch is poor, he can't pick a pass, can't cross and his positioning and decision making is shocking.

Who was the England manager during your playing career @Jimbo78? Sven? McClaren? Do you think you would have had more chance of a call up under Hodgson?
