Does this look like a two-footed challenge to you?

Amazing photo in today's Guardian. Apologies for the crease in the middle, but it looks like a flying two-footed challenge by Yorke. Does anyone remember it in the match?

It does have a touch of the Jet Li about it, doesn't it? Although interpreted another way, Lennon could have delivered a devastating forearm smash.

I think you'll find that nowadays you can be sent off for jumping. No need to touch the opponent

Depends, as a still photograph takes it out of context... A few weeks ago, he would have gone because of all the press such tackles were getting... I think that may have been the incident in the first half where we broke on the counter attack, Lennon just had Yorke to beat, and it looked like a blatant handball by Yorke just outside the penalty area... If it was, Yorke didn't touch Lennon, but still, to go in like that is reckless, and should definately have been penalised...

Rochemback's tackle against Blackburn is another that a couple of weeks back would have been a straight red... Goes to show how much the hysteria of the press has an influence on referees...

It's the intent that counts (notice i bold the key-word here  i'm f*cking good to you guys) - if the ref believed that Yorke had gone in with the intent to destroy our lightning wingers poor, stringy little legs then he should've sent him off - unless the perspective is all wrong in that pic and Lennon is past Yorke... there is always the chance, considering the weather, that Yorke took a spill as he tried to pull up sharp - i'm looking at his arms here, he's not trying to protect his head or covering his face, or going down gracefully...

I reckon he's falling on his arse more than tackling with intent there, but it is only a still, so who knows.

No he wasn't diving in but he went to ground and as Lennon played the ball it was a definite handball on the edge of or just inside the box in the first half.
