Inciteful as ever.

An articulate, intelligent coach. He took on a bit of a poisoned chalice at Charlton after Curbishley and made a poor decison in joining Coventry which has to be one of the worst run biggish clubs around.

But don't let any facts like that get in the way of slagging of British talent. Not saying he's a world beater but the jury's still out on him. He's the kind of manager that needs time to build a culture at a club

Born just up the road from here in Hatfield.

Left Palace for personal reasons and then joined Charlton 8 days later much to the chagrin of Simon Jordan the Palace owner.

This is still being tossed about in the High Court. dodge.

he's proven nothing and in my opinion he will continue to prove nothing.

I never rated him as a manager and never will. Charlton were doing just fine until he came along.

So, not that intelligent after all then.

The Coventry decision certainly wasn't a good one. I hope he does well at QPR.
Some managers like Warnock can play a limited game and get fast results. Some need to create a culture at a club ala Curbishley. Unfortunately the latter doesn't tend to happen as boards and fans are shortsighted.
I think Dowie will fall into the latter category

i find it intresting to see that hes only been given a 2 year deal, thats a pretty short starting point.

is just head coach or does he have a say in transfers aswell?

2 years is about right, I guess the short term aim is to reach the play offs and gain promotion, if it doesnt work out then off he goes with no pay off required.

Whether that happens remains to be seen, most of my QPR mates think it's a bad move, mainly due to the fact that its hardly a lofty aspirational appointment.
