I'm not trying to debate the point. Essentially history has and will continue to prove me right on Iain Dowie. He is a rubbish coach who drove Charlton into the ground and although he had some bad luck off-field with Cov, he still took a team playing reasonably well and turned them into relegation contenders (my uncle is a season ticket holder at the ricoh - he'd lost the players)

So was his success as Crystal Palace scoth mist?

I have to say I don't know much of his time at Coventry but Charlton post Curbishley was always a difficult job. They weren't a stellar squad, just a team in their managers image.

Dowie may well prove to be crap but for me the jury's still out and I hope he does well

He did well to get CP up, but I felt that squad was excellent (probably better than Reading or Wigan's debut squads) and yet they went down after one season.

Are we going to suggest every manager that has gotten into the prem and lasted one season is a great one? I disagree.

Souness was good at rangers once... but he's a shit manager.
