The day this happens is the day football dies... isn't the Champions League lucrative enough?

This can't possibly go through?

What are teams without their stadiums and their fans?

This would just be a glorified pre-season friendly?

Sounds like a slightly more ambitious version of the 39th game idea floating around.

Let's face it with enough money (and they have enough) anything can happen.

It would just be preseason. A slightly more glamorous emirates trophy.

175m to each club would ruin the transfer market and set the teams chosen miles ahead of the rest in their league, it's more than a pre season friendly when you think of it like that.

I assumed the £175M was going to be split between the clubs, but re-reading the article they are suggesting that the teams will earn more than Chelsea got for winning the CL so that's not the case. Crazy!

Could see the big boys of our league saying no then Liverpool saying yes and no fucker would want them ;p

Terrible idea though.

That could mean burnout for the top players if they're already drained from playing this pre-season.

And it would reinforce the wealth for the already-wealthy clubs, maintaining the status quo. Sounds about right. *sigh*

And I hate it on principle because it doesn't sound like we're invited. The bastards.

Think about it.....Arseholes, Chelsea, City and United would go. FA would ban them, we win the league.

In fact I'm sure we'd still find a way to bottle it ;p

Shit being in it once would be better than getting CL 5 years straight!
