I had never heard of him until 30 minutes ago but I will be devastated if we don't get him now.

Now I'm no big defender of Eric Dier but those stats say he won a mere 5.2% of defensive duels???

It’s not that he won 5.2%, he’s in the bottom 5.2% of CB’s for that metric. It’s quite difficult to spot because it looks almost faded but in the top left hand corner it says it measures the percentile they fall at compared to other CB’s for these actions.

Still seems ridiculously low.

No, it's just tap in merchants way of eeking it out.

Next will be spurs to confirm interest.

Then spurs have held talks.

Then it will be no bid made yet, but interested

Then bid made, and repeat.
It's my fault for consuming a shit load of Spurs content but that exact process does me in.

interested, confirming interest, considering a bid, confirming a bid was being interestingly considered, follow by nah he probably suits us too much lets change tact and sign a left winger.

Yeah it does. I’d have expected it to be low with how passive he is as a defender these days but that’s hard to believe and quite concerning. I’m assuming like other charts like this it’s a rank amongst the CB’s in the top 5 leagues, so he’s not up against every average Joe in the world but like you say he’s scored poorly there if that’s accurate

Problem is that he's in the "bottom half" of centre backs for winning aerial duels - and whilst in isolation not the end of the world, it's not a Romero strength either.

But if Ange doesn't like CBs heading the ball then we're all good.

I have to admit I’m really high on Tapsoba, have been for a few years. Tall, strong, composed, great passer, plays LCB even though right footed but can play RCB, not phased by being out in space defending either, and can take a mean penalty!

Not going to get my hopes up, but to me he’s an ideal signing. If we got him to start with Romero, and say Tosin Adarabioyo as a first choice backup to both sides then I’d be very happy. Total outlay for them both likely £40/50m with tosin having a year left. Would set us up nicely.

We're losing the likes of Dier, Sanchez even some old school players like Winks and I think this guy has all the raw materials to be our new scapegoat.

He is the one.

THE perfect CB signing this summer. I will be so happy if we get him, would be an unreal signing and his partnership with Romero would be one of the best in the PL.

he’s as good as we’re gonna get. if he’s keen to come, we need to pay whatever leverkusen wants for him.

(Provided we don't want to win any headers)

In terms of defensive style he fills in the gaps in Romero’s game and vice versa, so it is a great fit on paper. Not sure it’s his best role, but comfortable on the left of a CB pairing. Great athlete and great on the ball. Like his covering positions. Passes the stats and eye test. Should be better in the air than he is for his height. Don’t love his foot speed/patterns in 1v1s. That needs improvement rather than relying on his athleticism all the time. But technically and athletically he’s the ideal modern CB.
