He can play alongside Eriksen and Lamela. The latter isn't going anywhere.

This story is also bollocks because we're not spending £25m on anybody.

I posted this story anyway as I couldn't find a thread on Salvio or a previous link.

I don't know why everyone is so bloody precious about Lamela. I was just putting forward a hypothetical scenario based on this link.

Whilst we all want him to succeed for us, it's entirely believable that the club heirarchy may be thinking about selling Lamela whilst he still retains the value a 'young prospect' tends to hold, despite of his inability to carry across any of his form from Serie A to the Premier League.

This sort of sale isn't unusual. Sometimes a club will think 'it's not working out or we don't need him, let's sell him whilst we can still demand a good fee'.

Anyway, putting aside our own protective nature when it comes to Lamela for one second, just to speculate...

*Hypothetical scenario begins*

If we were to sell Erik for a large-ish fee I don't see it as completely unreasonable to assume that the money would be invested in a player that Poch thinks would be better suited to the RWF position in his system.

Salvio plays this position, is quick, aggressive, scores goals and is two footed.

I follow Benfica because a close friend of mine is a massive fan and we often watch games in those Potuguese bars down in the Vauxhall area. Salvio is fantastic player and really well suited to the EPL.

My personal view is that Pochettino will be looking for this sort of player in the summer but funding any sort of move will be tough, we'll need to sell. But who to sell??

*Hypothetical scenario ends*

Look, I'd be surprised if we sold Lamela or spent that sort of money this summer. However I think it's naive to think that there's absolutely no chance of us moving Lamela on if we get a good offer, especially if we can replace him with someone Poch thinks would be better suited to the role.

Plus, the sole purpose of these threads is speculation anyway! :)

In terms of RW? Players who offer a more traditional role on the right (which I'd prefer to purchase): Karim Bellarabi, Andre Carrillo or Patrick Herrmann (Actually plays both LW and RW well). Players who offer more of an inverted skillset: Domenico Berardi and Kevin Volland are ones I'd rather have. Or, we could just bring back Pritchard and let him provide depth at each position behind the striker.

Questionable he's worth even half of that fee.

I like Snarf's call re Patrick Hermann, think Berardi is a stretch tho.

Personally I think its worth giving Pritchard a pre season before we spend on this position.
