eidur gudjohnsen

eidur gudjohnsen had a medical at W.ham this evening at 8pm, then after this medical, Harry Redknapp contacted his father (agent) and eidur to speak about a potential move to us, Daniel Levy followed up this conversation by discussing terms with them this evening. It's anyone's guess where he will go now...

Not really got any views on him as a player these days as I haven't seen him play for a few years now, but the comedy value of pissing off the Spammers alone means that I'd like to see this one happen.

Im not sure about him anymore but why not! His experience would be good, having a player whos played at the top level and won trophies would benefit yhe team and hopefully rub off on the players!

Agent reveals Man Utd, Wigan chasing De Gea

West Ham United have beaten Tottenham for Monaco striker Eidur Gudjohnsen.
Tottenham have shown an interest in bringing in Gudjohnsen on loan for the rest of the season, but Spurs boss Harry Redknapp believes West Ham have beaten them to the former Barcelona and Chelsea forward's signature.
Redknapp expects Gudjohnsen to join West Ham but confirmed they had made an inquiry about taking him on loan for the rest of the season, with his parent club Monaco paying the bulk of the wages.
"I spoke to his agent, he said he was going to West Ham, so I left it with the agent," Redknapp said after the Barclays Premier League win over Fulham.
"I would take him on a loan. He would be good loan signing playing in different systems.
"He's a good footballer and an interesting player on a loan but I think he's gone to West Ham."
Gudjohnsen was believed to have undergone a medical at Upton Park on Tuesday evening with a deal likely to be sealed in the next 24 hours.

I think we're using him to force the hand of another club. Don't know which club or player but I've seen enough smoke screens around Spurs in the past and this looks like one.

I don't understand this one at all. He's been a player on the way down for some time and as I understand it hasn't even been performing in the relatively poor French league.

If we're going to get a striker I'd have thought it must be someone who can hold the ball up a bit for when we're not playing Crouch. I don't know if Eidur fits that bill really.

I have no idea how he has done since leaving Chelsea but an experienced striker who knows how to win and put the ball in the net doesn't sound like a bad option.

If he has truly gone downhill though Harry needs to do one of his famous pick me up jobs.

Poor signing imho. He has been on the way down since he left Chelsea, what you are left with now is a player who is a poor shadow of his former self. If we were in the market for a 30 something striker with experience, then the man to get was RVN.We could'nt afford him fair enough, dont settle for 3rd or 4th best then. We got a class striker on our books in Pav, give him a chance ffs....!

Not a good signing imo. We need more pace in attack, not less. He is too similar to what we already have. What we really need is another goalscorer. Someone like Nistelrooy would have been great, but now he is off the radar then maybe someone like Saha is worth getting in?

I liked Gudjohnsen at Chelsea, he didn't get much action at Barca though. He could turn out to be a good player for us, but i only really see him as an alternative to Keane. Not something we really need.

Gudjohnsen is past what he was at Chelsea. He could probably still do a job in the prem, but I can't see it to any great standard.

Also, I can't see why either Spurs or West Ham really need him. Gudjohnsen has become more of a attacking centre mid than a second striker these days, and spurs have plenty of options here already (not to mention 4 strikers).

West Ham on the other hand need goal scorers and someone to partner Cole up top. We already have a raft of midfielders, and I cant see Eidurs role being all that different from Diamanti's.

Me thinks the icelandic is going to get one last pay day before he bows out.
