Are people really not getting this???

He has troubles of the pitch (apparently). The only way he can gain the respect of the fans is working harder than anyone on the pitch.

I think my 4 year old son would understand this more than people on here.

I doubt your 4 year old would understand any of this anti Ade rubbish. Ade comes on and plays and if some done like it they revert to type and act like morons. They have done this with a few players at WHL. Its a case of if your face fit you ok e.g. Soldado. I like Bob and Ade and even Andros but he does try my patience at times.

I recall Milan when our own were singing 'should have been you on that bus' at him. smh. he was even playing well at that time.

Its a rare game I go to when I am not disappointed by the knuckle headed twats that comprise a selection of our fan base. Its not just Adebayor, he just happens to be a convenient target at the moment. Ive heard comments about Wenger and Madeline McCann, comments during minute silences that disgust me.

Its sad to say it, but there is a large number of total ****s who support our club and frequent match day.

But the notion that the Adebayor debate hinges around the nice standup folk vs knuckle dragging component of the fan base is not correct.

For what its worth, im not a fan of his, but if he is genuine and wants and is clearly trying his best to help the team then booing him is fucking stupid.

Because I don't agree with the implication that he doesn't give 100% and/or that even if and when does he will get support from the idiots that boo him.

You've got to earn respect, mate.

I don't think Ade will ever have everyone's respect. Even if he goes on a purple patch like he did last year everyone knows he is one transfer window away from behaving like a truant school child who was late for school because his bus had a 100 car pile up and who's dog ate his homework. He is a proven liability which is why Levy was willing to loan him out and why we got him for a measly 5m and why we will probably sell him for less. I wish he had gone so it forced Soldado to step up and be counted. Unfortunately he will probably flatter to deceive for the rest of the season and stick around in the summer to drain the club of more money.

Advice to the next club employing Ade: Put him on a pay as you perform contract and don't let him leech you for money.

I think he is one of the most misunderstood players in football. Every interview I've seen with him makes him out to be a good guy. People are quick to forget all the **** he has been through in his life.

"Stan Ocloo was my big brother," Adebayor told L'Equipe. "He counselled me, I called him when I was sad at my clubs.

"I spent a year-and-a-half [trying] to digest because he died in my arms. I collapsed in tears, I saw everyone crying.

"I thought very long. When I was home in Manchester, if something fell down I hid under my bed... The sound has remained registered in my head.

Words are wind...

Townsend railed in particular against the suggestion that Adebayor can be lazy.

"The manager has picked him from the start because in training he has worked hard," he said. "In training he has got his head down and showed he deserves to be in the squad. He has got himself fit and he got his reward on Wednesday - he got a start and worked extremely hard."

And despite everything that has gone on, Townsend maintains that Adebayor is a positive figure to have around the camp.

"He is an extremely funny character," he said. "He is always joking, always dancing, always making jokes. He is a great guy to have around.

"He is always making us laugh, whether or not he is playing. He is a great player to have."

I have sympathy with Adebayor, without a doubt. But he's clearly a high maintenance player. Poch and AVB have both wanted him out. If he was a hard worker and no trouble behind the scenes then that wouldn't be the case.

If he works hard and proves himself to be worthy Kane backup then that would be a fantastic outcome.

The booers, it goes without saying, are fucking tools.

I don't agree with all the vitriol Adebayor attracts from our fans.

If its because he's highly paid - get over it

If its because his form is highly inconsisent - so are many other players in PL

If its because he appears not always highly motivated, booing won't help in the slightest, though some cheering might

As much as I respect Roberto Soldado, in the PL he doesn't offer as much as Adebayor can potentially offer i.e goals. We need a striker to take the weight off Kane, we really don't want to burn him out. He's one of our players, and capable of challenging Kane for a starting spot for the remainder of the season. I think we should give Ade a chance and hopefully he will start showing some of the form he's capable of (maybe as soon as saturday) COYS

I'm just listening to the Spurs show. They've got a reporter from the Standard (I think )who's spot on re most things but is talking a lot of sense regarding the contrast of popularity between Ade and Soldado. Worth a listen.

We weren't booing, we were saying "booo-urns".

Contrary to others, I think Adebayor's trying and does want to succeed with us. He still has an attitude problem though, from what I can tell he doesn't apply what the manager wants of him and seems to think he knows best, just as he did with AVB and Mancini. He's stubborn to the point where it has repeatedly damaged the club he's at and his own career, it's always Ade's way or nothing. I believe that's why Redknapp and Sherwood got the best out of him, he works better with managers who give players more freedom which allows him Ade to play Ade's football. Unfortunately Ade's football is not the only way, or necessarily the right way.

It's the same off the pitch too. Want to leave Arsenal to play for someone else? Fine but don't piss off the fans and start publicly touting yourself to clubs(it was funny at the time though :D). Want to play more football at City? Fine but knuckle down, take your chances and don't act like being a late substitute is beneath you. Want to play international football? Fine but don't come out of international retirement a month before a mid season tournament starts. Want to join your international team in Togo to celebrate a historic performance at the ACON? Well you probably owe your club to think of them first at some point, or at least bloody let them know where the hell you are. On and on it goes with each incident giving more reason for people to believe he's self-entitled, self-important arse.

I'm sure we'll all be glad when he's gone, which is a shame because he's very talented and for the most part likeable. I won't boo him though and I think those that did have made their point, the club clearly want rid too so what's the point in doing it anymore?
