**No player thread on this man so this is it**

I was watching highlights of our 1-0 win against Everton the other week and I just cannot get enough of Adebayor's goal. The way he shrugged off Coleman with ease, got the ball out from under his feet and just blasted it right into the corner before Howard could move....just mesmerising. No doubt that he is one of the best strikers in the league when he plays like this.

He has attributes that few other strikers can boast about having. The combination of pace, power, height and strength is a joy for the manager - I'm sure Sherwood sure would agree with me there - and he is nigh on unplayable at the moment.

If we can keep him fit (and motivated) until the end of the season, I think we will secure top 4. He's just that good. He would be the missing piece in Arsenal's puzzle, the missing piece in Chelsea's puzzle and a missing piece in Everton's puzzle. He was the/a missing piece in our puzzle until Sherwood brought him in from the cold!

I know he isn't known to maintain his work-rate and form for particularly extended periods of time, but when he plays as he is at the moment, I love him.

Sorry for the overt happiness and optimism all, I'll make sure my next post is a depressed and negative one ;)

He's made a massive difference since Tim brought him in from the cold, I shudder to think where we'd be in the table without him.

Well I don't think we'd have beaten Southampton, Everton or United without him, for a start!

When he's playing with the desire he has now there are few better. One of the best forwards in the world in this mood IMO.

He's probably matured a bit as well now and being in his peak what a player we actually have.

If he avoids injury and maintains form, yes we have a chance of finishing top four.

He's taken off since his volley against West Ham, I think that most fans were happy for him when he banged that in. Probably my favourite goal of his since he's been allowed back in the team.

He obviously has his issues but if he didn't then we'd not have a player of his quality. For what it's worth, I don't actually think he's ever come across as a particularly bad character, even if behind the scenes he may be a hard one to deal with, and when motivated he's absolutely superb.

Everybody bemoaned us not going for Negredo, and everyone thinks he's been a very good signing for City this season. I use Negredo because he's also a big, strong striker who plays well both alone and in a partnerhsip. If you compare the two, remembering that Negredo plays with a far better, more settled midfield full of creativity behind him, then it paints the picture of how immense Ade has been since coming back in, scoring 1 fewer league goal than Negredo has all season, and assisting one fewer, despite having started 8 fewer games (and even come on 5 times fewer too). If it is to be accepted that Negredo is a good player who we would have liked to have, then it has to be accepted that Adebayor is a great player who we are lucky to have.

I remember posting about Ade several months ago, about how good he is, and if we got him right, would be unreal.

Needless to say, it wasn't a popular post at that time.

The missing piece in Chelsea's puzzle is the player they loaned out for two years running. Lukaku. Why they let him go twice is beyond me. Plus, Sturridge. Blues must be ruing themselves with those two.

He is one of the most frustrating players on the planet, if not the most frustrating.

We all know that he is unplayable on his day and can score goals from anywhere whenever he wants (his screamer vs chelsea last season, where he just picked the ball up and hit it as an example)

If he is motivated and wants to win, then likelihood is we will too.

But, if he can't be bothered, we struggle because he is our focal point at the moment. When he plays well, I do wonder what would have happened if we spent the Soldado money elsewhere, maybe on another winger.

Here's hoping he keeps playing like he does and if/when he gets bored, soldado/lamela will be ready!

The amount of people giving him shit and awful abuse last year was embarrassing.
It was. I found the whole furore over the picture with him and BAE to be particularly distasteful.

He is a great striker and we need him. His record for us when fit and playing is excellent.

Adebayor is better than lukaku and benteke imo.

I must be honest and say that I have rarely seen him not try, at least when he is fit.

I wasn't saying Lukaku is better than Ade (and where did Benteke come into it???). All I'm saying is the solution to their striker problems is currently loaned out to another Prem club.

I can't comment on level of fitness, because we can only really speculate on that, unless they come out and tell us the player was not fit, eg - gomes when he first joined, broken rib.

But last year under AVB, he just seemed as though he didn't want to play, wasn't tracking back, wasn't working hard to win the ball.

But boy has he made us all or me at least eat my words about selling him!
