What about one of the Ayew's at Marseille? Aren't they Abedi Pele's sons? Must be good. I want Remy, if he could handle playing up top with Rafa they could be our Henry and Bergkamp - except nothing like them probably

I agree about Remy, I was talking to IOMLS the other day and we both agreed he would be the one for us. But I think that all depends on if Adebayor stays, which I'm not adverse to, or if Hazard comes, I'd be very surpised if we got all three of them.

Of the 102 people who have voted no, I just want to ask them a question. What exactly do you want from a Player like Ade?

The guy has got 11 goals, should have 3 more, and has 12 assists. Brings more attacking players into the game. Yes he has bad moments, but seriously, i'm shocked 102 of you can't see hopw much better we are than last season with Ade in the team

I'm fully aware that as an attacking force we are much better because of him but his first touch and general play isn't consistent enough.

Also finishing doesn't come naturally for him, given the chances he's had so far this season, he should have twenty goals by now.

I'm sure that the players can take a varied approach and provide him with better service but he's not worth the investment.

Yep

Good goal return, excellent assist return and sees exceptional amounts of the ball - more than RVP and Aguero to name a couple.

He's the complete striker we craved, he can drop deep and link play, he has the pace to run the lines and also is adept at dropping into wide areas too.

We should always strive to improve, but it will be very hard to improve on Ade.

Even if we could, how much is it going to cost us? 35m and upwards, plus wages?

My worry is the wages.

If he is available for £10 million then thats well worth it, however to come in and be earning the same as the likes of Bale and Modric (or more likely earning more which will then see Bale and Modric join him on 100k a week), I don't think he has shown he is worth that.

If Levy can get him in a large bonus related contract then it would be a good deal, because I do think he needs a little more motivation than most at times.

The issue with Adebayr isn't his talent. Well there are a couple but let's look at the most pressing one. His wages are currently 150K+ pw. Sure, he'll have to take a drop in wages wherever he goes but especially at us.

If the club is looking to buy him for £8m-£10m and invest some of the £10m-£15m we'd save by not having to go and sign another striker in a nice phat signing on bonus for him and weekly wages in line with our top earners then OK.

Putting those thoughts aside for a mo, and bearing in mind the tightrope the club must walk wrt wages, even a drop of ~70K pw in wages will put him on 100K pw. In other words, breaking open the wage structure. We haven't done this so far for Modric or Bale, that might very well change as we try and waft some more filthy lucre under the nose of the ugly weasel in an effort to keep him for another season.

Is Adebayor the player worth doing that for and all the medium to long-term complications that would entail for the club? I dunno.

Say we go the phat signing on fee route. Fine wrt our wage structure.

I'd much prefer to have Ade on a contract of round 60Kish with very nice bonuses. If he performs he gets paid very nicely. If, and this is nothing personal, he suddeny gets a bit "Adebayor" after a seaon or 2, we're not stuck paying him outrageous sums for very little return.

He is a quality player on his day but he is inconsistent. Also seems to follow a similar pattern at each club he plays for. Excellent first few months, chasing everything, banging the goals in then slowly becomes less and less effective on a regular basis.

Loan deal for this year is perfect. If he wants to stay and it's affordable, great but either way we should sign another top quality striker if we are in the CL.

If we can afford someone better, we shouldn't sign him as he is not that cheap.

If we are going to sign him, I would expect a decision pretty early to be honest, as I would expect alot of the finer details with regards to wages and wether or not he wants to drop them or not will have been discussed at length with him and his agent, and i should also imagine that we know what Man City will want to sell him for.

How many goals and assists has Modric got this season?

Well true, Bale then. The point is, our wage structure is very rigid and for good reasons. If we are to break it, is Ade the player worth paying the potential price for because it won't just affect Ade, it affects everything, absolutely everything.

Im not saying he isn't and he's crap etc etc. I said earlier in this very thread that he has enabled this team to reach something approaching it's potential in the way he enables the team to play, not to mention the goals and assists.

I'm just not sold that he is that special player that is worth potentially upsetting the entire applecart for is all.

No doubt this means to some (not directed at you OC) that I suck and should shut up because we used to have Pav and Crocuh at the club but I'm not gonna so there.

So to sum up, we should sign a better striker who scores more goals, is more consistent and has a better first touch than Adebayor...

But for less money?

Good luck Daniel!

Should we sign Adebayor? Yes of course I don't see how people can disagree with this.

Can we sign Adebayor? Who knows, that's up to him and Daniel Levy to sort out. All this hand wringing about breaking the bank for him blah blah blah is irrelevant to his footballing ability. This is Spurs and Levy we're talking about - Levy won't do anything (as you ALL know already) that will jepordise the sound financial way the club is run. But if we don't sign him we won't sign anyone better, of that I'm pretty sure.
