At the end of last season we took advantage of Burnley's relegation to nip in and sign Trippier as cover/alternate for Walker. With Davies doing the same for Rose, it's been noticeable just how much those 2 have improved with the competition they now face. On the basis that Villa are doomed and 2 of the 3 of Newcastle, Sunderland and Norwich are going down also, does anyone fancy any of their players to play in the role of cover/alternate to sharpen up positions in our team? For the right bargain basement price obviously.

That Townsend looks like a decent player. All he scores are wonder goals.....
Well wonder is defined as a feeling of amazement and admiration, caused by something beautiful, remarkable, or unfamiliar. So I guess anytime he puts the ball in the back of the net it is pretty unfamiliar and therefore a wonder goal...

quite like Wijnaldum to be honest. Ayoze Perez would be a decent little player to have on the bench too.

Kirchoff - back-up for Dier, he's looked a class above in that Sunderland team (aside from when he played us)
Sissoko - back-up for Dembele, he's not as refined as Dembele but with Poch's coaching, he could be good cover
Grealish - player with great potential who could thrive under Poch the same way Alli has

No fudging one of them.
We should be targeting other type of players with clauses related to offers from top 4/CL clubs.

Kirchoff came on as CB against us though, as a DM he has looked very good. That Khazri guy they got in January also looks decent.

Agree with those saying Wijnaldum, think he could really kick on as an AM in Poch's system.

I categorically don't want anyone from this Villa squad, regardless of potential talent. Poison, the lot of them.

LOL funny enough I thought of saying "excepting Townbellend" - I should have done!
Glad you didn't say that tbh because he's one of our own. Tottenham boy, Tottenham fan, Tottenham supporting family, came through our youth system, gave his all but just wasn't quite what we needed at the time, but still very worthy of our respect.

So if you had said that, it might have pissed a few people off. But anyway, moot .. because luckily you didn't ... ;)

We should stand by him ...

Krul as backup keeper is about it. Perez not good enough imo

I don't see where wijnaldum would fit either, we have enough CAMs

Still think there is a decent player in Mitrovic trying to get out. Maybe the right manager can make it happen.

I agree there is a player in there but he is too much of a live wire and wouldn't be happy on our bench.

As mentioned above anyone coming in must be the right character willing to graft in our squad and not expect to play all the time.

Looking at those sides there is a reason Villa are going down and I would not take anyone from that team including Grealish who has potential but is a total twat.

Norwich lack the quality, Naismith is miles better than most of their squad but is a weaker Ings.

Sunderland have Kirchhoff who looks a good player but injury prone and has never played a decent run of games throughout his career. Aside him, I would take JD as number one cheer leader purely for old times sake. (I wouldn't want Yedlin any where near this team, looks like a headless chicken, on speed.)

Newcastle are a strange one. Some decent players but lacking any wheel urgency or drive. Wijnaldum is a decent player but not at the expense of anyone in our squad. Similarly Sissoko looked good last year but not seen anything from him this year.

Unlike last year there are no teams unlucky to be going down. All these teams are where they are for a reason and I wouldn't really say they have any stand out performers.

Don't think I particularly want any of them,

Kirchoff looks good and Brady at Norwich has had a good season. Not convinced either are good enough for us at the moment though.

Wijnaldum is the only one who looks to have that extra ability level but not sure if Poch can get him playing at a consistent level.

Walcott.

Poch would turn him into a proper player, plus he knows the Premiership.

Oh, and it would properly piss off every Gooner on the planet.

Nobody from the bottom three but a great chance to see if players like Lukaku & Ighalo have any real ambition.

Would love to get either of them two in as an extra option ahead of N'Jie / Chadli / Son

As a few have already said I think if you look at Trippier as an example - he was a relatively young player in a pretty decent team and he made an impression in the league thanks to the quality of his crossing, statistically he was a very effective premier league player. I'm not sure if there are too many players in any of the teams that are likely to go down (in particular Villa) who fit the bill.

Grealish yes appears to have some potential however his attitude seems poor and I'm not convinced he would be able to adapt to our pressing game.

Mitrovitc in patches looks a useful player but again not sure he is the type of forward who would fit our system plus obvious doubts about his attitude as well.

Kirchoff is a maybe though, looked decent.
