Come on people, look at the positives.

Lennon is playing well for England and for Spurs!

He has a good range of strikers for Spurs to play off of, some class midfielders in Palacios, Modric (when he returns), Kranjcar (sp) and the improving Huddlestone (and also a mention to the underated Jenas).

Plus we have a good defense and in Gomes a good goalie so he can match his ambitions with us!

I don't think anybody is being negative, we're just taking the piss out of, being sarcastic about and vitriolic towards all those who decided that at 20, with a bad season under his belt (following two good seasons) Lennon should be written off.

Much like Ekotto was written off.

If Huddlestone keeps this up, my vitriolic knives will come out for him too, and I'm waiting for Bale and Giovani to show the world and it's dog how good they are too.

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is backing new England hero Aaron Lennon to be "a world beater" after the Tottenham winger played a major role in the win over Croatia which clinched a spot at the 2010 World Cup.
Lennon has started the season in fine form for Tottenham and he continued in that vein as England won 5-1 at Wembley to book their place in South Africa next summer.
The right-winger played a major role in the opening two goals for Lampard and Steven Gerrard and was a constant threat before leaving the pitch to a standing ovation in the final minutes.
The 22-year-old capped the night by being voted man of the match by the England fans present at the game.
Lampard said: "I think Aaron is a fantastic player. He can be as good as he wants to be. He can be an absolute world beater.
"When he plays like he did in that game, no-one can touch him and we are fortunate that we have got a few players with that same sort of ability. You can't beat having pace and people who can beat people like Aaron did on this occasion.

Does anyone else here think even after a performance like that from Lennon that once the arse's Walcott learns how to walk again he will be straight back in the side and for the life of me I cant see one thing that makes him deserve it, the most over rated player I have ever seen!

Walcott is a great player and no I don't think he will automatically walk in especially after Lennon's performance last night.

Yes, Lennon had a great game last night but under Capello nobody is an automatic choice. Therefore, all players now know that unless they perform 100% to their ability, they will not get selected let alone actually play! I believe that that is the way it should be.

On yesterday's showing, Lennon must have impressed Capello well enough to be starting the next game.

I agree with most of what you say there. However, Wayne Rooney is teh most overated player ever. Heskey is getting all the stick, but at least he wasn't invisible.

Lennon I mean such an awfull player. He was poor. Croatia made it easy for him, firstly the pen was uneccesery, clearly Lennon was going nowhere, the the cross was just lucky we all know he was aiming for heskey!

Bring on GDS I say

It is a very good dilemma to have for England, SWP and Beckham are getting old but Walcott and Lennon are both young and competing for one position will bring the best out of both of them for their clubs. And they fit Capello's system well.

Personally I am happy with our striker situation too, yes Heskey gets a lot of stick and I would much rather have Cole playing there instead since he's basically a younger, pacier Heskey (and he actually starts for his club ) but I think it works well even if we don't exactly have the class of a Villa-Torres. It'll probably be shown up against a genuinely decent NT, but at least we have super sub Defoe in that case  He could be a hero with a few last minute goals.

I may be wrong but i seem to remember either Sherwood or Sir Les saying that they were trying to get Lennon crossing at an area rather than the pin-point cross as that was letting him down, also i remember Gus saying recently that Lennons left foot it just as good as his right it's just getting him to believe in his ability so he doesn't have to cut inside or take an extra touch etc.

Indeed - my post was not intended to disparage GDS - I'm sure he'll become a great player and hope we hang on to him! Unfortunately whilst that happens he'll be written off then elevated to the status of Pele and then written off again on here...
