If I was Carroll I would be sooooo frustrated playing with this lot.

The number of times he has been open in space to receive the ball and his team mate on the ball has ignored this to pass it sideways is unbelievable.

He really is a class above U21 level.

Nice to see a Spurs made goal, spurned by Barry Chuckle's love child...

Will Hughes looks like a ginger kid that has tried to bleach the ginger out but it's gone horribly wrong.

Carroll could be a good deep laying playmaker. Just hope he develops good and we have plans for him. He just gets it going with quick passing, something I miss in the first team. He could be our Modric replacement. A midfield three with Paulinho/ Eriksen/ Holtby, Carroll and Sandro has great potential.

Watched the full game. As Misfit mentioned, I just LOVE the weighting of Carroll's passes. He's so precise and in tune of where to give it to the player to give them the best possible first movement - that has always been such an important part of how good a passer is, imo.

I got frustrated by some of the other players as they were being greedy. Quite often, Carroll would play a pass, move and look for a quick one two only to watch the player dwell on the ball and run down a blind alley or shoot. When Carroll does play for us I think it will be great if he has one of Holtby or Eriksen in there with him somehow, so that he has another creative player who will play the game the same way.

Honestly, for shits and giggles I'd love to see Carroll transplanted into the Barcelona team in place of Xavi for a full game and watch him play with a whoe host of other players whose main modus operandi is to pass and move pass and move. It would be very cool to watch.

Kane backheel was class.

If we could sign more randoms like this I'd be happy.

i prefer to see spurs grown players being given the chance before resorting to spending big money on foreigners. how is carroll going to make it at spurs when there's an avalanche of expensive imports in his position?

He'll make it with us. No doubt in my mind.

i hope so. out of curiosity, did you think the same about caulker?
No. Everyone compared him to Ledders etc but I was a ST holder slap bang when young Ledley came onto the scene. About the only thing they had in common was a similar physique, imo. I like Caulks tbh and thought he had a chance but even early on Ledley had the anticipation of a much older CB and was like shit off a shiny shovel over 10 yds. Could not be beaten. It was always an unfair comparison whether made consciously or sub-consciously.

Caulks is a promising young CB and I hope he makes it but I don't see a great CB in potentia. That's not to say he won't be a good premiership and international CB. Just more of a Lescott than a Ledley, imo.

Either way, I genuinely think many are disappointed more over the loss of another potential Ledley than Caulker himself as a player and that's where the regret stems from.

Perfectly willing to hold my hands up if I'm wrong and he goes on to be mustard and were Caulks still in the squad I'd be happy. I'm not entirely sure he's elsewhere because of the club tbh. I think he wanted regular football, wherever that might have been and we got a good offer for him.
