i prefer to see spurs grown players being given the chance before resorting to spending big money on foreigners. how is carroll going to make it at spurs when there's an avalanche of expensive imports in his position?
I'm not English so I couldn't give a toss. I just want to see the best Spurs team I can.

Zaha is so overrated for his current ability. He won't make it big unless he sorts out his decision making.

He isn't going to get a look in at United this season, not sure next either.
Too much hype around him, went to his head and now he tries too hard to live up to it.

Zaha has a whiff of Bostock around him. Were Fergie still in charge I think he'd have come on over the next couple of yrs and been successful. Right now though? Seems to have moved too soon or to the wrong club in the immediate future with Moyes in charge, imo.

He needs to be playing and regularly. They've got to loan him out, Shirley?

Watched the full game. As Misfit mentioned, I just LOVE the weighting of Carroll's passes. He's so precise and in tune of where to give it to the player to give them the best possible first movement - that has always been such an important part of how good a passer is, imo.

I got frustrated by some of the other players as they were being greedy. Quite often, Carroll would play a pass, move and look for a quick one two only to watch the player dwell on the ball and run down a blind alley or shoot. When Carroll does play for us I think it will be great if he has one of Holtby or Eriksen in there with him somehow, so that he has another creative player who will play the game the same way.

Honestly, for shits and giggles I'd love to see Carroll transplanted into the Barcelona team in place of Xavi for a full game and watch him play with a whoe host of other players whose main modus operandi is to pass and move pass and move. It would be very cool to watch.

Kane backheel was class.

If Dembelle doesn't improve on recent performances, I could see use getting rid of him and Carroll taking his place (if he has a good season at QPR).

i was looking forward to seeing the likes of caulker, carroll and townsend in our team this season. but instead i've got to watch random guys like chadli and paulinho

You are a miserable fecker Blake, but then so am I. And I have to concur that I'd much rather watch a lovely technician play in our midfield (who just happens to be an academy product) over an athlete like Paulinho any day of the week.

not sure if srs

I'd like to see Carroll at Spurs, rotating with Eriksen/Holtby for number 10 positions, but to have him in midfield ahead of Paul, who is not just an 'athlete' but an extremely sound box-to-box player? no thanks.

I'm not sure there's much difference between an 'athlete' and a 'box to box' midfielder, both terms are virtually synonymous to me. Whatever Paulinho's strengths are, he's not a great passer of the ball. Sideways and backwards he's ok (though even then I have seen him struggle), but when it comes to playing clever through balls he's left wanting.

Capoue is a rock in centre mid, I'd be quite happy to see us line up with him as the anchor alongside a combination of Eriksen/Holtby/Carroll. We're horrible to watch 90% of the time, and AVB's taste for power over finesse in midfield has a good deal to do with that.

They'll get in if they're good enough, so I wouldn't worry if I were you.

When was the last time we let a home grown player go who then went on to become someone we'd love to have back?

How often do genuine top talents emerge from any English club, really? Someone you'd really love to have in your side...in the last 10 years, who could you name? Across the whole country. Rooney and Bale are the only ones aren't they? Maybe Sturridge and Walcott?

We're a big time (ish) club now. If talent comes through our youth ranks then that's great. But we're not a fucking charity. We want the best.

it's the age as well as the nationality. if i were running spurs i'd only be signing players like lamela and eriksen to accompany caulker/carroll/townsend etc. i'm not really interested in us signing 25yr old paulinho or 28yr old soldado.

Why?

Presumably you wouldn't signed 25 year old Berbatov? or 30 year old Ginola? or 28 year old Van der Vaart?

Some of my favourite ever Spurs players.

Paulinho has played 3 games - yes 3 games - for Spurs in his whole life! It takes time for a player to adjust to life in the EPL and gel in with the rest of the team (which is full of totally new players).
