I’m sorry but I don’t believe that at all, Newcastle if they remain in the Premier league will spend huge. The game is awash with rich owners getting around stuff. Saying Newcastle won’t spend huge is just wish fulfilment. Newcastle will join Chelsea and Man City as grotesque spenders. I don’t like it but the writing was on the wall the moment the Premier League allowed the takeover to go through.Newcastle will not have carte blanche to spend to anything like the same extreme as Chelsea and City did when they first came into money. Newcastle's turnover (and that of West Ham, Villa, Everton, Wolves et al) is vastly inferior to ours. Sure, they will be able to fudge a few commercial deals from the off but it will still take them some time before they catch us up financially; let alone before they can "massively out invest us".
Our owners may rarely raise capital by any means other than debt. But they have at least overseen a huge investment in infrastructure. And because of the new stadium, we are now in a position to compete with the top clubs financially. It's only because of unfortunate, unforeseeable global circumstances that we haven't yet started to reap the full benefits of that investment.
Well, that and the fact that we have spent a lot, very badly since moving into the new stadium. We won't get anywhere if we waste fortunes on duff players.
But that's equally true of Newcastle....
Thats 3 of the top 4. Saudi’s are not buying Newcastle to spend years waiting to join the top.
