Id prefer lascalles tbh because
1- he's taller
2- he's played in a very hard leugue full of grant holts and Rickie lamberts unlike Eric Dier whose been playing against header postigas
There's a clear reason we'd get dier- price
Then again Forest have produced very few top players, while the Sporting youth and coaching structure is famed around Europe.

Lascelles is 1cm taller...

Edit- Also, Lascelles has never been picked for the England U21s while Dier is a regular for them...

It's not strange if we rate him highly, which is very possible. Unless you meant it's just strange that he will never be considered HG despite being born in England.

I haven't seen him tbh, but several that saw him said he was overrated. I would prefer to keep developing Veljkovic.
Lascelles makes sense as he counts as homegrown

Beside's I'm reading that he rejected the renew offers because he only played 16 games last season. Does he expect to play more with us??

Anyone have an idea on how Dier is rated by Sporting fans/media as compared to Ilori when he was there?

Also what's the fixation on buying other teams youngsters rather then playing ours we may have good defenders such as veljkovic

If you view it as being a foreign youth the scouting team rate highly, that comes with the advantage of already speaking the language fluently and has some experience of at least English top flight training, then to my eyes it does appear a good signing.

He's also undoubtedly fluent in Spanish by now, so would therefore also provide the advantage of helping translate for Poch in training. Would also be able to relay more specific commands more quickly during games as well.

Why would he be fluent in Spanish?

Most of Sporting fans rated Dier higher then Ilori. At the time, I thought that both were top class material but Ilori had a litle bit more potential :)

Thanks. Despite your view on their respective potential are you happy with us signing Dier?

I thought that Ilori would prove a good signing for Liverpool also but doesn't seem to be going well so far.

Why would he be fluent in Spanish?

I apologize, in the haste of my edit I chose a very incorrect verb.

It is my understanding though from fluent Spanish speakers that speakers of Portuguese and Spanish can at least understand each other very well. I would speculate this is even more likely for Dier due to his living in Portugal, and growing up with many Spanish speaking players at Sporting along with people he would come into contact with on a frequent basis.

But yes, "fluent" was a poor choice in word. My bad.
