Agree with the comment above about him being deceptively fast. He had to run about 30 yards at one point and seemed to eat up the yards.

True, Özil probably asked for his shirt! Or maybe Dier's low on loo roll at home :D
I loved the look of Dier the first game I saw him play. The best thing is the way he just bursts forward with the ball, putting the oppo on the back foot and not inviting pressure. He's clearly confident on the ball and pacey which is a major bonus for a cb.

Saw him at the lane against shalke pre-season.

Posted in that thread that he was the business.

Our best defender waiting to happen.

Dier is starting to look like he could be just as important of a part of this youth movement here at Tottenham. His positioning was generally excellent. He was comfortable on the ball and quite honestly he didn't seem too phased by the attacking talent that Arsenal boasts. Granted, his job was made easier than probably expected due to Wenger opting to approach the match like the girly-man he is. Regardless, Dier was fantastic and I think he's definitely earned the right to start against Liverpool.

If he gets the nod, Liverpool will be a huge test for him as they won't be sitting back against us.

I'm a little upset that people seem to be so willing to toss Fazio aside. I really like him as a no-nonsense defender.

That being said, I do prefer Dier. Quicker straight line, more agile, more assured on the ball bringing it up the pitch to start an attack. I like the Cahill comparisons but I think he also has Ivanovic in him the way he can get up the pitch and aid the attack. He will be a pivotal defender for us down the stretch.

Absolutely smashing performance from Dier today. Fazio is great, too. No problem with the right CB position. Verts needs competition.

If it's true that we're getting Reid in the summer, I personally wouldn't want to swap out Dier for him in the first team... at least not if Dier continues to perform the way he has been at CB.

One small thing which bugged me though which I mentioned in another thread was him swapping shirts with Özil today. I don't think I've seen anyone swap a shirt in a derby before, and if he really wanted Özil's shirt he should have done it in the tunnel.

He wanted a momento of us beating the scum. I want one too.

He's got a touch of "The King" about him in that you rarely see him off his feet. Could be excellent and stands a good chance playing with Verts and Hugo.

So do I, I think he eats up everything in the air, more so than Dier but there is something about Dier that I really like too. It does feel a bit safer with a more mobile defender but if we were to play Stoke or West Ham away for instance I'd probably want to have Fazio personally. It's great to have the option to play either one.

I loved seeing him after Kane scoring to make it 1-1, he was pumped and looked for the nearest player to hug at the time which was Dembele I think!

Love this kid. Knew he was the business since that perfect crunching tackle on Balotelli. I like Fazio but the reason we look better with this guy around is that his pace stops the opposition slicing through the middle of us, while he's still more than strong enough to attack crosses coming in and come out on top. There is a role for Fazio, but against the quick passing sides Dier is the best bet.

Very excited about him, aggressive and yet calm. Fazio has something to offer too but prefer Dier in the team. Does suggest that while back up is important, paying huge wages to Winston Reid to come is not necessary and, if he were to get in the way of Dier's development, a positive hindrance to the progression of the team.

Am I right in saying that he forced two excellent stops from ospina and a defender from corners. One which lead to Kane's first and the other when mason smashed it back from outside the box

See Reid as a replacement for Kaboul and possibly Chiriches. Poch loves to rotate to keep players fresh. So think there could be room in the squad for Reid.

I've liked him from the start. Yeh he had a few poor is games at right back but even then you could see he has talent. Quick, aggressive, excellent on the ball, good in the air and decent reading of the game for a young player.

Massively impressed.
