There's no doubt the club would love to move him on, but he's not getting any interest for good reason. I think we are stuck with him for another year at least.

Either Jose has changed his mind on him since working with him, or you'd hope Roma might have a sniff. Maybe they're hoping Smalldini might make some room for him ?

I doubt Jose rates him any more. I think he did initially from afar when at United which aligned with Dier's career best period as a DM, but after working up close and personal with him, he feels Dier let him down. I think Jose possibly admires his mentality, but his technical on field ability is left wanting. Jose started dropping Dier a fair bit last season so yeah I doubt he wants to work with him again.

One of the issues that is often forgotten is that he's non-HG. There'd be more excuses if he was one of the 8 HG we can register, but that isn't a factor. Doesn't really do him any favours in that regard.

100% agree. It also negatively impacts us in terms of selling him too. Like I said, Rodon/Tanganga need to be playing ahead of him, particularly Rodon who has a bit more experience at this stage. Time to support our new CB signings with some upcoming players who need minutes now. Dier is at his ceiling (or a bit below it now) and doesn't bring anything special to the table.

I'd put him and Winks in the same boat but as HG, Winks has more options no doubt.

A lot of PL experience to help 2 that dont have any maybe.

I wouldnt rule it out even if it proves to be short term.

I think we need some PL experience at the back if we get two new centre halves and lose Toby. All the talent in the world means nothing when first stepping into the PL from abroad. It is a different beast in terms of pace and physicality. As much as I think his goose is cooked, keeping him might be a smart move.

Hopefully after the Ben White deal gets wrapped up Brighton would have some interest..

Apparently, they want Rodon and are willing to pay 25. As unpopular as this is, and as much as I rate him, that's too good a deal to pass up.

I really think the club would consider it if they offer £30m+

Not at £25m though, I think.

Maybe West Ham as Moyes took him to Everton at a young age. And he is very much a Moyes player. Not sure they have too much to spend either.

Don't really understand the OTT hate people give Dier. Just seems like unnecessary levels of anger toward someone you don't know personally, and, aside from being under par on the pitch, hasn't done anything wrong off it? He had to deal with injuries and illness. Don't think many appreciate that.

Have to agree. I don't think he's good enough but if he stays I'm not going to be upset about it. Definitely others I want out more.

Seems par for the course with our fans these days, when players aren’t amazing the hate starts to flow. Dier is a funny player. Can have brilliant games, but always seems to have a horrendous error in him, but how much of that was down to him, or down to the defensive unit as a whole being awful I am not sure. He is a leader, and always gives his all and could end up an important player for someone out there. Not sure that’s for us though.

Why would we sell a CB for £25M when (a) it would cost much more to replace him with the same quality and (b) we have a lack of decent CBs? I know we only spent £11M on him, but we got an amazing deal due to Swansea being in financial difficulties.
