I'm all for this but it's beginning too feel like the Jol days of having loads of central midfielders who were far more workmanlike than creative. Admittedly far superior players at the moment, but I still struggle to see where the creativity comes from. I'd have it that only two of Sandro, Dembele, Paulinho and Capoue should ever start in midfield, and the third spot always going to one of Siggurdsson, Holtby and Carroll. What use is the great attacking three we look like we'll have if they get no service... We can't wait for Bale to score last minute wonder goals all season.

I apologise if Capoue is a better passer than I'm giving him credit for by the way, if he his then I take it all back.

This, and the possibility of Livermore playing CB (which he has done before against Dublin) makes me wonder if we're doing a Guardiola with our central defence a bit
That's not really AVB's style IMO, I think for AVB that he'll want players with the right strengths to play in the defense, he won't just shove midfielders in there unless they are actually strong defenders as well.

he may be being brought in as a cb though ... and given all the time he's played in midfield he'll be comfortable on the ball which is something avb values highly.

If we have deals lined up for Hudd around £6M and Parker for £2-£3M (and probably ~£95K a week combined wages), bringing Capoue in for £8.3-£10.3M (and £50Kish a week) looks like some great business

edit - especially if it saves us on buying another CB while we wait on Kaboul's fitness (and could go back in for Vlad in January if we need)

Sandro, Capoue, Dembele, Paulinho as our midfield is absolutely terrifying, plus Sig and Holtby as more creative passers.

It's another Moneyball/committee signing IMO, and nothing wrong with that I might add.

Baldini might be sealing the deals but I say he's working off old lists.

Our team is gonna be like one of those old 90s computer games, International Superstar Soccer for the SNES springs to mind.
Play as the better team and wave after wave of attacks would ensue literally battering the opposition into submission, winning the ball back after 1/2 second, pouring forward, relentless pressure, power, dominance, GOALS, WINNING, GLORY.

Our team of midfield supermen will be unstoppable.

Good times.

Signing him could allow us to let 2-3 out of Parker, Huddlestone and Livermore go. Would be delighted.

E.Capoue to Tottenham

Toulouse and Tottenham have reached an agreement for the transfer of French international midfielder Etienne Capua. The latter is expected to sign four years.

Time waited on the side of Cardiff, with whom discussions were initiated , Etienne Capua (25) goes reach England. But this is precisely the side of the Tottenham midfielder TFC will put his luggage against a nice check (about 11 million euros plus bonuses of about 2 million). "He will go," confirmed President Olivier Sadran on RMC, although some details remain to be settled. The French, who is expected to sign for four years, is expected Thursday or Friday in London to pass his medical.

The player, who played 34 league games last year for 7 goals, had a release from its leaders. Capua wanted to leave Toulouse to join a bigger club standing to apply for a place in the group of the France team for the 2014 World Cup. In particular it was tracked by Monaco, Paris or Atletico . In order to facilitate the transfer, he changed his agent last winter and is now in the lap of Mino Raiola (which looks after the interests of Ibrahimovic, Balotelli among others).

I've heard of him, but I have not seen much of him. I'll be honest in the fact that I watch little Ligue 1, I find it rather boring. But, here are some full performances of him. He seems strong, and rather comfortable on the ball.

CDM vs PSG

CB vs Montpellier

He's necessary for me though mate, he's an anchorman that will sit in front of the back four, as well as being capable of playing CB or a box to box role. He's primarily Sandro competition, which is needed. Parker, Livermore, Hudd, Dembele & Paulinho aren't disciplined enough to play this role. And I kind of agree about your worry about creativity, but Dembele is much more creative than people give him credit for, and Holtby and Carroll can only improve. With Paulinho, I think we'll see someone who wants to make runs and therefore our play should be less static with more forward passes. I'm hoping we can sign someone skillful on the left though to give us a bit of craft and unpredictability.
