Phew! For a minute there I thought they weren't going to win it.
For as long as that trophy sits in their glass cabinet, and for as long as their players look at their winners medals, they'll act as a mirror that screams back "First Champions League winners in the history of the tournament to get knocked out in the group stage".
And then their grotesque fans might like to reflect on how they lionised the manager responsible for their ignominious early exit, and then hounded and abused the fella' who actually won them a bit of (discredited) silverware and got them 3rd in the Premier League.

Its a good point though, if its so important for the CL winners to defend their crown, why not this? Oh well, even if was the case, some obscure european minnow would probably get the CL place over us, knowing our luck.

No, I think it means Everton are in.
Think we normally get 3 spots - 2 cup winners and 5th in league.
Normally the FA is won by a CL team so 6th also gets in, so I guess same this season to cover Chelsea Europa win.
