Not from what I see, he's having a go at Liverpool because he expects better from them - he had a go at Man Utd in the same way.

No idea why Klopp took that so personal and attacked him.
It might not be personal. Neville may have just said something that flipped his switch at the time.

I must hold my hands up and say.. I did think this super league was going to be done under the umbrella of fifa/uefa.. Really is looking like an absolute shitstorm. Whatever does happen tho, the super league is only a matter of time. They've been talking about this for the last 10 years..

Carra and Neville were spot on about Sky. Yes there’s an element of Sky massively benefitting from when the EPL was born so there’s a bit of hypocrisy there BUT at least the best domestic league competition in the world came out of it.

This shit show being proposed isn’t even good, it’s not even better than what we have. It’s worse in every way.

Neville carragher making good points but they keep saying clubs talking about leaving their leagues and deserting their own which is complete lies. Why are they keep saying this?
Because the league is on the verge of kicking the clubs out - and will then blame the clubs for abandoning the league.

I would hazard a guess that it's because Liverpool didn't win today.

, having read the announcement of the restructured UEFA competition earlier, there’s the width of a gnats bollock between the two in terms of shitness anyway. One is blatant ring fencing, the other is sneak ring fencing. End result will be the same.

Why can’t people understand that it’s the exact same clubs that are now breaking away that have strong-armed UEFA into reshaping the CL into what you described? The only reason they’re breaking away is that they don’t think UEFA went far enough in rigging it for them.

UEFA should be criticised for a number of things, but the evolution of European tournaments had been largely driven by greedy elite clubs.

We're all culpable, we're all hypocrites.

In some way this maybe good because now it's really really out in the open we may get honest serious discussions and action about the future of football. Although I'm not holding my breath.

How can FIFA say players will be banned from WCs after all they've done over the years.

Ultimate hypocrisy right there.

Neville kept on about Liverpool last night like Man U arent as bad. He imo definitely kept digging out Liverpool and brought up YNWA. He's done the same tonight imo.
Shame because it takes away from what he's trying to say.

What? He was far harder on United and he went straight at them first before moving onto Liverpool.

I’ve already posted on the topic a few times.

It seems to me that the clubs are holding the cards ultimately.

They are realistically what attracts the viewers and the money.

If the PL axe the SL clubs, the PL will be worse off. Although it would be a much more level playing field. But the quality would be a lot worse. Viewers would be down, most likely. The PL as a brand would be damaged.

Likewise the CL.

I am only for the idea as a means of replacing the CL. I like the CL but it has been a bit bent for years. I also do not like UEFA or FIFA.
Qatar World Cup, I ask you.

But I do like the PL, for all its annoyances. I would be sad if that ended up being kind of just like the Championship and all the “Elite clubs” were just in the ESL. Football would then be dead.

The only way the SL works is if the PL allow SL clubs to participate. The PL would really struggle without them. There would be a monumental drop off in pull and draw.

The only way this can work is if it doesn’t alter the current league structure and domestic competitions. I want the PL, League Cup and FA cup. To me, they are football.

It makes the PL even harder to win for an outsider, though and...

Do you know what....

I might revisit my thinking on this...

I’m not sure what I think any more.

If in doubt, if it’s not broke, don’t fix it. None of these bastards need more money. Footballers don’t need higher wages.

At least the PL is mostly competitive. It’d largely be a complete lock out at the top if this were to go ahead. There’s a lot of joy in watching a Burnley shoe a rival club.

Hmmmm.

Everyone that is in the PL should have an opportunity to win it. I think this would completely kybosh that.

Will be very interesting to see how this develops. It also seems like it’s a lot further down the line in terms of development and progression than everyone thought.

If a SL club had a midweek game at Barcelona, but were playing Fulham the Sunday prior, the SL club would only field a second 11.

But then that might make the PL more “winnable” to “lesser” teams.

Corrrrr. I dunno. Literally no idea any more. It’s a fucking head scratcher.

Utterly perplexing.

Florentino Perez is about to give an in person interview about this whole thing. First interview he's done in over a year I think.

UEFA are threatening to expel the members of the ESL from European competitions immediate. So, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U, Man city and Real Madrid could be expelled from their respective semi finals.

This is what is getting to me. All 6 clubs are aiming to play in the EPL as per normal plus other domestic competitions. They are just breaking away from UEFA. Other clubs will take their place in the UEFA competitions making them money. If the remaining 14 want to eject the 6 then that will be cutting off the nose to spite the face. You leave the domestic situation as it is.

Are Sky not going to get TV rights for the new league? I guess not as this is about clubs running their own TV channels or selling rights individually. Me thinks whatever the ins and out of the ESL Sky have a vested interest in stopping it.

The PL has only been around a few years, football existed before and will after. The CL is a new competition replacing the long standing European Cup. Is the ESL just a new development of this?

It would probably be illegal as the clubs haven't done anything wrong just proposed ideas.

Does anyone actually have any suggestions why this is a good idea except for “sticking it to sky” like I keep seeing, because I cannot

No way as the legal implications would be massive. Unless they have done something to break the existing rules they are in shakes ground.

EUFA fat cats are scared of losing the cream they are so used to and going back to skimmed milk.

This whole situation is loaded with people who are protecting their positions. Only the the fans are the true voices here
