what does this mean for the Euro's? We will find out quickly how serious FIFA and UEFA are about player bans.

I'd imagine bans would kick in from 2021/2022 season, so Euros ok?

I can see UEFA kicking teams out but no chance the FA and Premier League can do the same. Their hands are tied.

Joining a revamped version of the Champions League which removes the bent UEFA bastards from the equation is the final straw for you?

Come on now.
Fucking hell. They're all bent. Perez ain't a saint. and this group is even less accountable than UEFA, which at least are theoretically voted on by member associations. The situation if anything is worse than UEFA.

But this isn't finished. We will see what happens. But I think it's wildly optimistic to think this will go smoothly as a new completely stupid CL replacement, and that's all it will be. For starters. A minimum of 54 games with a maximum of 73 games not including replays is clearly not possible to do, and restructuring the domestic game for this competition would become necessary. I don't think the other PL clubs will take kindly to this. The threats arent empty.

Levy was left with no other option let’s be honest.

If you're a football chairman, and are offered this proposition you'd be stupid to say no to it.

I just can't believe, with how shit we were when I was growing up, we've found ourselves in a position where we're considered an "elite club".

Forget all the reasons why we’d be down there for a moment, but seeing us working our way through the leagues from conference up I think would bring me lots of joy ?

lawyers can plan all they want but then it goes to a court.

Call me naïve but I do not believe, for one minute, that the Premier League, Serie A and La Liga are actually going to boot their cash cows out of their leagues, and try to recoup the money from hyping up Southampton and Sassuolo fixtures.

We want to earn our place among the elite not have it handed to us on a silver platter. Where is the competitive urge all of a sudden?

People don't fucking have it mate. They don't give a fuck how we get to the top so long as we get there.

I don’t know when you grew up but Tottenham has always been considered a big club, in spite of our underachievement on the pitch over the past...30 years ?

I'm not keen on it, but do you think its competitive?

It's been rigged against teams since the champions league was formed, and rich benefactors started hoovering up the talent.

appears they are buzzing. Because it means Champions league football, not knowing future implications...
Dont think they realise they face financial oblivion if the 'big 6' are kicked out of the PL. Which is what they seem to be holding on to.

Also why is the PL so against this? These teams still want to be in it. It's just UEFA that seem fucked
Because it undermines the league structure. Seriously, how do you think you'd be feeling if we weren't in the deal?

I am praying that the league kicks out the clubs. If they don't the League system is completely fucked as well.

I wonder how this will play out from here. FA, UEFA and FIFA making big threats, can they possibly back them up? Will Sky/BT be at all happy if the big clubs are banned from the premier league? Will broadcasters the world over be happy if fifa ban the likes of Kane, Messi, Mbappe etc from competing in the Euros and World Cup?

This is horrible but it’s going to be fascinating.

Wow, that escalated quickly!

Part of me thinks it's brinkmanship from the club's in response to the new CL format proposal, but the way the statements tonight are worded just seem very final.

That aside, surely the €3.5Bn mentioned would be split amongst the "founders", which would be what, 200mil per club.

There is no way the PL kick the clubs out and no way FIFA ban players from international tournaments. FIFA make a killing from the World Cup but it will be like a glorified Olympics tournament without the worlds best players.
