With the new itk, I did a little digging, and he has been linked with us very strongly in the last day or so. He also has a 30m release clause, which fits in nicely with previous itk.

Banega, Tottenham target

Updated Monday 08/26/2013 12:05 pm

On 2 September, the day after the expiration of the third day of the season, the deadline for registration of players. It would be a surprise that in the list of Real Madrid players were not then Gareth Bale, but also that the Totenham, his current club, do not react immediately with the 91 million hard cash you receive in your box by the Welsh, and strut your template with a signing contrasted. Already it.
Recently had nearly tied the Brazilian Butt Anzhi, William, but it has robbed Chelsea offering 37 million euros, three more than it offered Tottenham.
But Villas Boas wants more substance to your computer if Bale leaves and the hiring of Roma Argentine forward Erik Lamela, operation is also underway, also has its eye on Valencia's Ever Banega to reinforce the line of creation of the Spurs.
The London club, through its manager, Franco Baldini, has been in contact with the intermediary of Banega, Marcelo Simonian, to meet the contractual status of the player and, above all, the willingness of the Argentine international when to consider his possible departure.
Clause 30 million
Beforehand knows Tottenham will have no facility to take Banega Mestalla, after the recent experience lived with Soldier. In addition, the Valencia is no longer in the position of weakness then , when I needed to balance their cash box so that forced Tottenham to deposit the 30 million clause Soldier, who yesterday scored his second goal in two games for give three points to his new team against Swansea.
Banega has the same clause (30 million) contract ends June 30, 2015, while President Amadeo Salvo, following the departure of Soldier, which was the symbol of the team , wants to turn Banega as the flagship of the Valencia.
In fact, the idea of Valencia's top leader to seize the first week of September, coinciding with the slowdown experienced by the League on the occasion of the qualifiers of the selections for the 2014 Brazil World Cup, to try to begin talks with the agent of Banega . The England international has become a key pillar of Valencia, although rivals, aware of its quality, dried on the first two days.

I think I'd be a little disappointed tbh. Not sure he'd do all that well in the prem. Dafuq do I know though. If the powers that be are interested in him, I'll cross my fingers.

Very good player but we need someone playing farther up. Would have been a good signing if we hadn't got Dembele last year.

I like him alot but surely there is no room for another center/deep midfielder.

He looks decent, but not quite what I think we need in terms of creativity just behind the striker in terms of direct play. Looks like he sits a bit deep for what we're looking for. If we couldn't get Valencia down on the price for Soldado, no way we could get them down on this guy now that they're in a better financial position. Not worth that much cash IMO.

He'd likely be the front of the mid 4-3-3, essentially where Dembele was placed the last match.

Love Banega when he's on song. He may play quite deep sometimes and is good in the tackle, but his offensive abilities are equally good, imo.

Would be gobsmacked at 30m though. He is very talented but volatile and I wouldn't think he'd be worth anymore than 20m tops.

Can't believe we'd be interested given our depth in midfield now. He's a bloody good player though, very good.

But we need a magician, someone doing their business further up the pitch. Someone who can dribble and beat a man, and who has the guile and intelligence to affect the quality of our approach play in the final third.

We need some genuine craft in and around the edge of the oppositions box. To get the best out of Soldado its imperative in my mind.

More money blasted at central midfield positions, even though he could play the advanced role of a three, would be a bit ridiculous now given our needs.

If Dembele wasn't here, yes...but its a no for me.

Biggest advantage of Banega would be having a creative player who already knows exactly what Soldado wants to do and how to get him the ball.

One of my favourite players in football. Such a classy midfielder. But really not what we need

I can seem him being linked and/or considered due to his experience with Soldado and Lamela (fingers-crossed).

He is a very good player, no doubt. But for the money it would take I can't see how it would be deemed a priority now.

Would be a bit perplexed if we spent 30 million on this guy given the embarrassment of riches we have for our midfield now.

Southampton were going to bid £12,000,000 earlier in the window. I would pay that for him but €30,000,000? Behave Señor!

Looks like a little maradonna when playing - same sort of shape/demeanour (though not as skilful, obviously).
