Winger who has excelled since arriving on loan is surplus to Spurs' requirements and has just a year left on his contract but still won't come cheap

So they want a 28yr old English international who's been one of their best players and on top form for under £10m?
Piss off and stop wasting our time.
Still think he's better than Lamela and Townsend.

Matt Jarvis cost West Ham £12 million, so it would make sense that Lennon should cost more than him.

Chadli was only £8 million, so Mirallas should be less than him. Sucks being Everton.

I think he offers more than Lamela but Lamela has far more talent.

If I was picking a Spurs 11 right now in a cup final (ie where we had to win), I would honestly put Lennon in my first XI. I would have him on the right and (reluctantly) Townsend on the left. Lamela would not get near the side based on performance. And Chadli is too anonymous until he pops up with his Clint Dempsey impersonation.

My point is I still think Lennon is the best of our wide players - notwithstanding his slightly erratic end product - because he gets in behind defences; pushes their left back back; and works hard tracking back and pressing the ball with pace.

He is far from perfect - but I honestly haven't seen anyone else step up this season to convince me his is not our best option. Particularly when at the moment we look so static and are struggling to provide for Kane.

Just my two cents. Don't hate me Lennon haters!

This is just bid talk. No team signs a player without first telling the world they're being ripped off and no team sells without complaining the selling price is too low. I think this'll happen just hope Levy gets us a good deal.

He's only got one more season left after this one on his contract apparently, so that adds a wrinkle to his valuation. He certainly wasn't a 10 million player when he left us, and especially with a year left on his deal. But Everton aren't the only game in town, and we've previously gotten a good bit over the odds on the likes of Sandro and Crouch. Mirallas would be a decent solution if he wants to make the swap.

So it'll be interesting to see it play out. But the caveat is how long it takes to play out and trying to have a settled squad like a properly run football club. The window should close before hte season starts, but it doesn't, so we should act like a proper club and get our business done before the end of August.

What's the point of him getting behind defences if he can't cross or shoot? He's only slightly improved those attributes down the years but not by much. He has been living on borrowed time for years

And Lamela and Townsend do?
He looked ok in CL.
Agree he's not a world beater but I think it'll be a while before we see a better RW at Spurs.
And he's only been at Everton 5min and already scored more goals.
Prob assists as well (in time since gone. Sure Lamela lovers will research that for confirmation one way or the other. Not that it matters.)

Lennon has a total of 0 assists this season. Just ran a little Squawka comparisson matrix out of interest and on all key stats other than goals Lamela wins by a landslide . . .

Christ. He has no future here. Best to get his wages off for as much money as they'd pay. Same thing goes with Ade, Kaboul, Capoue, Bobby, Vlad, and Paulinho. Get the wages off the books. Stop haggling over the fees. No need for it. We shouldnt be haggling for 5m on Ade or Kaboul. Shouldnt be haggling for 10m on Lennon. Shouldnt be haggling for 15 on bobby, or paulinho. Shouldnt be haggling for 8-10 on capoue or vlad. These are times when we shouldnt be comparing what other players, who may or may not be as good as our guys, are going for. Who the fuck cares?!? Get the wages off the books! Go 3m on Ade and Kaboul, 6-7m on Lennon. 10-12 on bobby and paulinho. 5m of vlad and capoue. That could be 30-40m right there for the 7 of them without haggling for more

Haggle on the fees for Dembele and Townsend, the 2 players who have good value that we could sell, for some more money. If we could somehow get 25-30m out of these sales, we'd be in good shape.

9 off the books(w/o counting Holtby, Brad, Ceballos, and Carroll/Fredericks who could all very well leave). 55m-75m in fees brought in without counting Holtby and Carroll/Fredericks(who i think are likely to be sold). 12-14 players in total off on perms. Massive relief on the wage bill giving us flexibility in the transfer market without having to tap in on the tv or commercial money that we could use on operating costs and new stadium costs on the year before we get another sizable windfall of cash from the new tv deal(s)

I should imagine he will if you look at the whole season as Lennon hasn't been playing.
Gotta love stats lol.
Cheers anyway.
Should say Lamela has looked better (not a massive achievement) in recent games.
Thought I should mention that before the torches and pitchforks appear.

In other words Everton would rather only take him again on loan to go with their other 12 loanees rather than use actual money.:bag:
