I assume it is possible for a player to make an error, even a really bad one, without it leading to a goal on every single bloody occasion.

Can we not get away with anything? Players from other clubs seem to lose possession in dangerous positions, lose their man etc etc without it always, every time leading to the opposition scoring......but not us

angry at the players for shitting the bed (once again!!), but also the universe for ensuring maximum punishment with no mercy.

I’ve been very critical of Mourinho over the last few weeks, but not last night. The team, the formation, intensity and energy were all good. He cannot legislate for these f**k ups. The only thing i might criticise him for is bringing on Winks, but hindsight is 20/20

Agree that this is in part true but you're forgetting that Sanchez gifted the ball to Richarlison who but for a woeful first touch would have strolled in to make it 4-1. He also got away with not conceding a penalty for his inexplainable shove on Richarlison which was pretty much the same foul he committed at Man Utd earlier in the season.

Lets be honest we are a clusterfuck back there no matter who we play and it will continue to cost us game after game after game.

Strange isn't it that most clubs have at least 2 players that are great at free kicks just outside the area and we don't have any. That's where we miss Ericksen. Harry is great at most things but free kicks isn't one of them. Still it was a great game best I've enjoyed for some months just sad about the result. League cup here we come.
If Son can land a corner kick on almost the exact same part of the penalty area at least 8 times I'm sure he's capable of whipping a free-kick on target.

Kane's power free-kicks are pathetic. Easily the most annoying thing about an otherwise amazing player.

Actually the opposite. I don't think he'd scored one for a good 2 years by the time he left.
He scored against Norwich!

That's not true, most of free kicks are invaluable and even the best free kick takers in history has accuracy like ~6%

The problem with Kane and free kicks is we just do not have a free kick specialist. Leicester = Maddison United =Fernandez
City = take your pick Liverpool = two or more capable dead ball specialist . Saints = Ward Prowse
Everton= Siggurdson Wolves = Neves I could go on but you get the drift it is certainly something that needs looking at.

OK Ill bite. Its true that there have been posts saying that they ant us to lose, those posts make up literally no more than 0.5% of all other (sane) opinion on here. So to hone in on those posts to provide succour to your weak argument doesn't actually fly.

The VAST majority of fans (99.5% imo) want us to win, come what may, irrespective of who is in charge. As such, Id suggest its more pertinent to discuss how we've gone from being table toppers to mid table and potential solutions, rather than focus on the banal comments of a tiny minority.
We've been through all this, man. It's very wearying because the evidence when one drills down suggests it's far more prevalent. Even just a cursory look at the poll at the top of the Jose Mourinho thread shows that it's far more than 0.5%

Whats also annoying is that Kane keeps being allowed to take them. Seems like we have no-one working on being the specialist.

Had a look and they have them on TransferMarkt.

Some curious patterns - from the 12 he scored for us, 6 of them were in 2-2 draws :pompous:

More importantly though, 1 per season for the last 3 seasons wouldn't suggest a very good conversion rate. I imagine Son got more corner assists than him last night than he did for 3 seasons, too.

The earlier days of his perceived 'set piece specialist' stuff faded quite rapidly.

It's not something we need looking at, free kicks are pretty much invaluable. Most of these free kick specialists you listed apart Ward-Prowse scored maximum 3 goals since last 2-3 seasons. Gylfi didn't score free kick goal since 16/17.

This season there was 9 free kick goals from 213 shots(4,22% accuracy)

Being on target stats would be great to see.

Five goals from players with names ending in "son" and we still lose.

Everton were ridiculously clinical with their finishing, never seen Richarlison finish like that before.

I thought we came up against a lot of bad luck too, it just wasn't our night.

Still big question marks over Jose and his future. I don't see any quick fixes for Spurs but let's see how the next few weeks ago.

As an aside, I actually enjoyed the game yesterday....bitterly painful to lose of course, but to see us going out and trying to win was at least a blessing.
Absolutely agree.

99% of us all has been screaming about a more attacking approach. We finally got that!

Went to sleep before extra time and dreamt that we won. Woke up this morning in a great mood, checked my football app, saw we lost and it ruined my whole fucking day. Cheers Hugo, Pierre and all the rest of you non performers.
