Really wasn't. He'd already scored a couple that season (including that blinding volley v Stoke), a couple the previous season v arsenal and Chelsea, and a couple in his first season too. Point taken but he definitely had more than 4 goals prior to the guisseppe meazza.

Yeah didn't he score 4 in his first season alone?

Amazing attacking force. That trademark low, left footed strike across the face of goal was just lethal.

That West Ham goal will probably be shown amongst the Hoddle v Watford's and Gazza v Arsenal's in the pantheon of Great Tottenham Goals for years to come.

I at least remember Fulham and Arsenal. 10/11 was his first semi prolific season with 7 league goals from the left wing and also that hatrick v Inter and I think another in the CL, but the hatrick v Inter was definitely preceded by a few more than 4 in all. I think he scored two alone v Stoke, the volley and the one that was cleared by Shawcross into his face. In fact, most of his goals were first half of that season I seem to remember.

Wigan away. Bale scored early, but Wigan quickly came back taking the lead. Managed 2-2 after a very ate OG from Boyce(?). The game where I knew we were finished

said something similar to my son as bale stood over the free kick in the last minute score we are in miss we are out

Hmm maybe it was 3 as he got one in the cup against Boro, then a season without, then another 3 the next year (Arsenal, Chelsea, Burnley?), then two against Stoke before Inter.

I was behind the goal when the ball came out and Defoe tried a van Persie vs Swansea style scissor volley but the ball was just a touch too high.

We didn't deserve even a point from that game though.

true I thought wigan would stay up after that. speaking to wigan fans after they felt the had lost it as they felt they should have got three points. they were right

Watching that video makes me realise how few goals he scored prior to last season. The fist of his hat trick at the San Siro was his fifth goal for us. Mental.

They're in order in the video! He scored 9 prior to the San Siro Hatrick.

Ha I think everyone's got it covered now, but as the video shows he scored three in quick succession in his first season, then a big gap before three more at the back end of 09/10, then Stoke away and Inter in 10/11, which was when he started to become a 'regular' goalscorer (though not prolific until last season).

Actually forgot how much he enjoyed scoring against the Arse :(

Shite music but nice video. His last goal was quite possibly his best as well, and definitely the best celebration. What a player. Feel quite lucky to have seen him live several times (and touched his sweaty back at a corner).
