Sad news. Best to wait for the facts to come out. He was a 6ft former athlete and if he was behaving in a way that endangered others a Taser may have been the only option.

Taser's are only used in pretty extreme circumstances. Usually people with weapons or violent/aggressive people that may have been on drugs and won't cooperate. That's the usual reason but doesn't mean that's the case here, will be interesting to find out what happened.
