Found a couple of reports from Conte's last year at Chelsea. Some concerns regarding fitness and the intensity of Conte's sessions but also why things went awry for him there.

Basically, if Conte is gonna stay, we need a bigger squad but ONLY signings he wants. Chelsea lost all of Costa, Terry and Matic in one window and replaced with Morata, Rudiger and Bakayoko, then they started to get big injuries.

Bloody hell, that mirror article sounds familiar!

I wonder what the delay with the contract is now? I can't imagine the club is too enamoured with it still being unsigned. He's had the January window, so he'll know if he's ok with the strategy or not and if he still feels like he can make a difference.
Is there actually stasis, which from the outside looks crippling, or have big decisions been made and the direction inside the club more certain?

I think it's accepted by everyone that he's not signing another contract? Seems to be the mood music...

He just had emergency surgery and is still recovering. Maybe that's got something to do with it?

Oh please, he's not unconscious, he will know if he wants the job or not. He's in £15m a year role, it's not like your average Joe going off on the sick. He can't physically get on the training pitch but he's not incapacitated

He has had so many chances to commit.

I know shit is happening but we're running a multi billion pound football club and the uncertainty is helping nobody. Especially not my mood when I'm watching us!

What was the point of this?

All this post has done is cause confusion and given people a baseless reason to bitch and moan again.

It does nothing to stimulate the conversation in here.

I might be completely wrong, but personally I reckon the decision he’s not signing is already known, and the successor (Poch) has already been contacted.

If that is the case I wouldn’t be at all surprised that there’s a respectful gap between Conte departing and Poch’s announcement.

Not like his gall bladder jumped out just as he picked the pen up to sign though (as far as I'm aware) - writing's been on the wall for a while.

I gave you a possible explanation. I don't know if it has played a part or not, but he has also suffered personal loss in recent months. That is something that can cause someone ro re-think their life and priorities.

Good to see people on here are sympathetic to others.

Hate this place more and more each day.

Will he sign an extension? NOBODY KNOWS. As it stands he is manager until the end of this current season. He is currently away recovering from surgery. Nobody in their right mind decides to sign a contract during a recovery period.

Yes I know. But if he hasn't signed yet, I doubt he will sign one while recovering from surgery that he returned too soon from.

Touche

But in all seriousness, we haven’t had any news on the subject so any conversation would be pure speculation and that never ends well when it comes to players/managers and new contracts.

I think you're giving the club too much credit there. They'll make a pig's tit of it again, I bet.

Listening to view from the lane podcast and Jack Pitt Brooke has said that there's a feeling around the club that a number of players could do with some more arm around the shoulder from Conte and some players aren't as happy as they could be with Conte. He mentioned not just players that havnt played much like Bissouma & Richarlison but also likes of Dier, son and Lloris.
Hard to know how much to read into things as players not playing will always be unhappy and some players out of form will look to blame everyone but themselves but could also point to some bigger issues re squad happiness etc

Have a look at @rossdapep 's post from last night from his time coming to an end at the chavs. There's very similar stories as now.

I don't know how much more of an arm round the shoulder you need when you get picked week after week of abysmal performances. If that isn't a manager backing you I don't know what is ffs. Dier Hugo and SOn have no wiggle room on this one I'm afraid, they've 100% had the manager showing faith in them when you consider how they've been performing.

Sounds more to me like JPB is looking for excuses as to why these three have been so poor this season and that's all he could come up with.
