Have a look at @rossdapep 's post from last night from his time coming to an end at the chavs. There's very similar stories as now.
Which players at the Chelsea are we talking about? I bet it isn't the win at all costs bust a gut just to play players. The sheer number of real top class players that praise Conte to the hilt, tells me everything I need to know about his coaching style with the players. If you're piss weak you'll struggle, if you have a strong mindset and desire to succeed you'll love him.

I don't know how much more of an arm round the shoulder you need when you get picked week after week of abysmal performances. If that isn't a manager backing you I don't know what is ffs. Dier Hugo and SOn have no wiggle room on this one I'm afraid, they've 100% had the manager showing faith in them when you consider how they've been performing.

Sounds more to me like JPB is looking for excuses as to why these three have been so poor this season and that's all he could come up with.
That's a fair point re playing them. He was getting at a more of an arm around the shoulder / paternal type of relationship for players out of form and referenced those 3.
As with most things around Conte (and previous managers when their future is uncertain) this sort of stuff can feed into a narrative if you have one or can be dismissed.

I mean it's quite simple imo. Even the likes of John Terry do nothing but heap praise on him despite him being side-lined and left out an awful lot under Conte(I know he got injured but he was never more than a bit part player when he was fit again). He's a winner that other winners respond to, when we talk about the right mentality to win things you have to have that mindset and determination to do so. If what JPB is saying is true, then it's no surprise we've been the bridesmaid so often over the last 10 years or so, because obviously some of our players are just too damn precious.

I think we all forget just how difficult this year must have been for Conte personally and professionally. He is away from his family, has lost a member of his team/friend suddenly, has had a massively disrupted season, etc.

I can’t see him leaving.

Not sure how we forget it being as it's mentioned constantly in any conversation to do with Conte.

Same as most top managers.

It's mentioned because people seem to forget he is a human being like us. He has health issues and suffers from grief like anyone. He is not a robot.

The same people who say mental health matters are the same who forget footballers and managers have problems too and expect them to just carry on like nothing has happened.

Whether he’s staying or not next season doesn’t matter. What matters is that he needs to come back refreshed and up for the fight for the rest of the season. Otherwise he’s doing no one a favour by coming back at all.

For all of the reasons in your 1st paragraph, I can't see him staying. It's been a very difficult year, he has lost 3 close friends, had health issues himself, been away from his family (albeit a short flight) working in the most difficult, most stressful league in the world, which is a competition he has already won.

I'm struggling to think of a reason he would want to stay and I don't say that as a negative on either him or the club, it's just the unfortunate circumstances.

he wants one or two marquee signings in order to stay, to steps forward or one step back

I highly doubt your second paragraph, unless you've got a sensational scoop on these people...

Can't say I've seen a single person suggest he should carry on as if nothing has happened. Maybe I've missed something.

When you compare how conte seems to act like he is doing us a big favour by being here compared to what ETH is creating at Utd, does this go down as another massive Levy screw up

Not actually anything to do with Conte but 1 Bazillion percent Levy not appointing Ten Hag because he was a bit boring is a massive fuck up. Great manager

and I hadn’t even remembered that we went for Gattuso and then Nuno instead

In most other businesses that’s a sackable offence right there

With the best will in the world, it's a hard sell to blame Daniel Levy for appointing Antonio Conte to manage this team whether it works out ultimately or not. It was not another washed up Mourinho moment.

Found a couple of reports from Conte's last year at Chelsea. Some concerns regarding fitness and the intensity of Conte's sessions but also why things went awry for him there.

Basically, if Conte is gonna stay, we need a bigger squad but ONLY signings he wants. Chelsea lost all of Costa, Terry and Matic in one window and replaced with Morata, Rudiger and Bakayoko, then they started to get big injuries.
“then they started to get big injuries“
Thats because there is an irrefutable connection between stressful coaching/training environments and injuries.
There‘s enough evidence and sports research studies to identify this.
Conte’s obsessive style of management and training puts an extra psychological and physiological burden on players that I actually think stifles the players, rather than free them up to play the best football.
In Conte’s absence, we’re maybe seeing a reflection of that in the way the players are getting results.
