This 100%

From behind the scenes I am told that he is very invested and believes in the project. The offer is on the table for him and FP and DL think he will take up the 3 year deal.
He has had an awful 12months personally with the loss of close friends and also being away from his family during these times.
But that has not stopped him being as professional as ever and wanting to make a success of the project.
I think like someone else said this couple of weeks back home, has possibly given him time to reflect and come back refreshed. Also viewing the games from a live feed and not on the side of pitch has helped him view things a little differently and adapting things In our play.
bit of a concern if it's taken him not being at the games to recognise what needs to be changed

You sometimes see something different from a different perspective. It's why some managers have sat in the stands before. Maybe he sees more via a screen and notices something commentary picks up that he didn't or couldn't from the touchline?

Sometimes, you do need to take a step back from all the noise and distraction around you in order to be able to better assess a situation. It doesn't sound that odd to me, even if the situation itself is slightly unusual.

i'm sure they review the game after the match, we have had the same problems every game, we literally have 1000's of people on this forum that can see what's wrong

He's probably got one eye on the match threads on here, and finally had his eyes opened by the stunning insights and tactical wizardry that's regularly on show.

I think it's a major concern when it's your job to manage a high level football club, being paid 15m a season, problems any football fan can see and you need a step back to see the problem

This isn't ITK but I have it on good authority that David Dunning and Justin Kruger are both being heavily linked with the managerial job.

I'd completely resigned myself to the fact he was leaving. The idea of him staying almost feels strange now.

I think if he does stay it really does need to be a 3 year deal, though. We need to end the constant speculation about his future as it's been a huge distraction.

But this is DURING the game and not after. We notice things on a screen with camera close ups etc. Conte can only see so much from his position in the stadium.

It's funny, there is a line from Paul Heyman in a promo from a few weeks ago that rings true here - "you see more on TV than you do here"

View from the lane lads, mainly James Maw and Jack Pitt Brooke, are saying they would be very surprised if he's here next season. Obviously only journos but JPB does cover us exclusively for Athletic so likely to have some sources.

Just pretty shit having this continued uncertainty over the main person at the club. I'm probably wrong but can't remember a top club ever having this sort of situation before (that doesn't involve another club trying to take the manager) where 3 months to end of season they don't know if manager is staying or not.

we have had the same issues for the entire season, from start to finish. Conte isn't the only manager in the world who manages from the sidelines and everyone else seems to manage it just fine, if he can't it's a red flag on his behalf

no, that should be the bare minimum of a football manager? how the hell are you settling for any less?
I'm settling for progress on the pitch, which I'm seeing. Are you getting annoyed because we are starting to see results consistently on the pitch? I know that you want him gone so is that possibly feeding into this?

no, i'm saying that progress on the pitch should be/should have been taking place when the manager was on the sidelines. The talk of it only becoming better because he can now see the team from home is a major red flag.

But he has seen the problems. He says so in every press conference that we start games too slowly and don't move the ball forward quickly enough. They've obviously seen we are at times over run in midfield because the tactics have been tweaked to accommodate this, and when you say there are 1000's of Supporters that can see what is wrong do any of them actually know how to fix it? Some say it's the formation, yet we've seen it work just fine in a lot of second halves and the back end of last season. Others say it's the personnel, yet this is what we have, and Emerson is currently proving 95% of Spurs fans wrong on that front. Then you have those saying it's Conte himself and he's not fully committed, yet the guy rushed back from an operation against Doctors orders, making himself worse.

The fact is it's probably a combination of many factors, but there is no doubt in my mind that Conte has seen what they are and is working to address them regardless of what his long term plans might be, because that's the sort of coach and person he is.

His job is to review where the players have not been performing, reflect on how that can be improved and put measures into place to improve them. It's always a work in progress. How he achieves that - I can't see Levy caring that much personally.

It's like Conte is an actual football manager and not just a fan with an opinion.

Until someone on this forum can show me their FIFA badges and successes as a coach or manager I'll choose to put my faith in Conte rather than their opinions.

Too many fans think managing a football team is as easy as it is on FIFA/FM. It is so much more nuanced than that.

A Fifa badge doesn't make you knowledgeable or understand the game mate, it just means you passed the course. See Sol Campbell for details.
