Have we had itk since Jan on whether the windfall of transfer investment came through in the end? We heard that it had been delayed longer than expected. Perhaps that hasn’t materialised.

To be fair, the fans don't show much either...

ETA - there is definitely an expectation that the club should be able to play above its level. I blame Poch for setting that standard.

And Redknapp, remember his famous quote.

"They've never had it so good"

Conte is merely starting to put pressure on the club in preparation for the Summer transfer window. Conte knew he would need to do this and the club knew this would happen.
Do we need to strengthen our squad? Yes.
Are some of our current squad coasting/not good enough for the level we believe we should be achieving? Yes.
Have we needed someone with gravitas to come in and state this? Fuck yes.
Would we as a club look daft if he walked away, un-backed, and get a torrent of 'even Conte can't win anything with Spurs? Yes.
Are the club going to allow that narrative / situation to play out? No. It would be a massive missed opportunity if they did. I think they realise that too.

No matter how much evaluating and discussions with Levy prior to taking the job are enough to know the full extent on what he was walking into.

He fully understands that now. The real problem, imo, is that he is now realising just how weak the mentality of this squad, and even Club, is.

It's a mammoth challenge and it's going to take serious time to change.

The question is will he stick around?

One thing is for sure, if we don't show patience/and or Levy delivers this summer/ he is lining everything up to protect his own rep with those comments.

Yes, it’ll be coming through any day now along with the leprechaun’s pot of gold and the chest of treasures from the lost city of Atlantis…

“But I repeat, I have realised now that this is the vision of the club.”
He realises that now only? So what was said to him before and at time of appointment? Was he given the wrong message or did he misunderstand? Either way, that's a problem.

I do think there should be a balance though. I'd love nothing more than to have some experienced 'winners' in and amongst the players with potential.
Exactly, no team of youthful prospects will win the EPL or UCL.

I’m probably not the only one but I’ve been losing Interest following this club lately. We have fallen so far behind the pack when less than 3 years ago we was in the mix. Going two windows without any transfer activity is a crime in itself. As long as levy and Enic are at Spurs they will suck the soul out of the club completely. The Conte appointment gave me a bit of a lift, but now even that is starting to go sour. Conte tells the truth and sadly as the saying goes a leopard never changes it’s spots. Levy and co won’t change even with a world class manager in charge.

that's where I'm at.

I'm not shocked or bothered by what Conte has said. nothing will change whatever he says.

Very obvious he’s realised the mistake he’s made taking this job. The club is rotten to the core and hasn’t the ambition to win on the pitch. I expect he’ll walk in the summer. The type of player he wants in the summer is not the type of player we’d consider. Too expensive, too old, no resale value. He’s getting his excuses in early. Back to square 1 in May.

I don’t think the pressure he puts on the club will make a blind bit of difference. We are maxed out on our credit cards already and we’ve also got some pay nothing for 12/18 month purchases to pay for this/next summer. That is also combined with us having to take a pay cut at work (no longer being a club in the top 2 tiers of European football).

The only way out of this with Conte at the helm is an equity injection for transfer funds. The problem here is our owners ridiculous valuation of our club, nobody is going to inject funds into our club at a silly £3b valuation. So we’re stuck in limbo for a while, missing the finances from European football and not growing our sponsorships due to becoming a less relevant European club. Meanwhile across the Premier League more and more owners are coming in who are prepared to invest their own finances to inject liquidity into the clubs that they own. It’s ironic really considering that our two owners have made more money than any other owners in the PL other than the Glaziers at Man Utd out of their ownership of a football club..
