I'm possibly the most vocal on here regarding Winks, and I have always praised him when he's done well. Those times are just so few and far between, and when he's poor he's just really poor. There's no middle ground with him. Where are all the 6/7 out of 10 performances for instance. He's either a rare 8/10 or he's 4-5. He does well against sides that literally sit with 10 men behind the all but any team that presses or that dominates possession he is just totally anonymous.
"He does well against sides that literally sit with 10 men behind the all but any team that presses or that dominates possession he is just totally anonymous."

Unfortunately he's not the only one. This describes all of our midfielders apart from Bentancur (possibly Skipp), both our right backs, all but two of our centre backs and one of our left backs... oh and our goalkeeper who is a hero but still can be panicked under pressure.

I can tell after watching two minutes of a game if we will win or lose.... they press we lose.

Edmonton on COYS (doesn’t post prolifically but normally has very reliable information).

I’m as underwhelmed as anybody else by our January business but I know Conte has been promised serious backing in the summer. If that doesn’t happen there can surely only be one outcome.

yep ridiculous amounts of pressure the club has put itself under this summer to get the kinda business done that turns this club from being kinda mid table back to where it was at peak poch efficiency. it's an extremely hard with all the other big clubs that will be circling for top talent , we already missed out to barca and liverpool. Though Gareth Bale on a free would be a good solid start i believe

When Ed posts about financials at the club it's worth taking notice.

well Levy tried that with Nuno, a nice passive yes man who was just happy to be here. No idea where he turns to after Conte

It'll be someone with a history of bringing through youth, who plays attractive football, but who hasn't been successful in the Premier League yet.

Honestly don’t know why anyone expects different from Conte, he is a straight shooter and always has been. He is literally saying what we’ve all been thinking for a couple years now.

So we get misconstrued quotes initially, everyone loses their shit and it's all very self fulfilling prophecy of how this was going to end with Conte and then we now get the actual quotes in which a good proportion want to ignore to continue their narrative of bashing the board?

Fuck sake, we've been told countless times about the summer ad nauseam - we all know there are no excuses come 1st September so let's just keep a lid on it all and watch what unfolds because it's getting bloody tiresome these threads now with the same shit regurgitated.

I don't think anyone minds straight shooting, but was this really the time to do an interview in Italy that would be picked at for clickbait when the whole club was on a low after three straight defeats and most likely a 4th incoming at the Etihad?

I think this was a scheduled interview with Sky Italia as part of their PL TV rights, so at least he didn't go out of his way to give these quotes.

That’s kind of my point, change or another manager is gone. If he goes due to not being backed, I think I might just give up on us ever really winning anything

I feel the same. But got a bad feeling the club will string us along up until ST renewals again luke they did last year

So do we think he genuinely didn't like what we did in Jan or is he just putting pressure on board for summer/detracting recent results?

Didn't we have several ITK say he was satisfied with the Jan window and he knew its a difficult time to so business?

This is what Conte does, we all knew it, when he’s not happy he lets it known. Personally I have no problem with it. Has he been promised money from Levy in the summer? Time will tell, but personally I believe it’s just Levy kicking the can further down the road, il be surprised if Conte is here this time next year.

I see the same narrative has come around and many are laying the blame at Conte's door. It seems to me, from the patterns we're all used to, is that ENIC have not delivered on their promises and now Conte is left with a weaker squad. This has been happening with every manager. Personally, I'm done with targeting managers. The issue is with ENIC/Levy. If we can't fund Conte, we should have never have wasted anyone's time bringing him in. And he's absolutely right: we are weaker in terms of numbers. I wouldn't be surprised if he was happy to let the four go, thinking he would get adequate replacements--that wouldn't be such an unreasonable expectation. But we know what happened. Nothing will change.

i wouldn't hate that really, that season were Leicester won the league was maybe my most memorable of being a spurs fan. we won nothing but a very young dier, rose, walker, alli, kane, eriksen, lamela and son tearing it up was quite fun, and a source of great pride .
we'd have to greatly lower expectations as a club of course

Honestly what a fucking surprise. I really am getting fed up of the pant wetting. It hasn't really been that bad on here in fairness but in other corners of the internet it is embarrassing. By now people really should have learnt not to take everything first said at face value. Especially where it concerns THFC.

Wasn’t that always going to be the case. I would think it’s fairly clear that he’s not here for a project, it’s not his MO. If he isn’t given the tools he wants come summer of course he will walk. I think the summer window was probably a key part of the negotiations when he first signed for us so if we mess about or try and go for inadequate players he’ll be gone with the wind.

At least we know it’s on the table. If massive funds get spent and a lot of serious players come in we can be quite happy and hopefully Conte will be too. If it’s an average affair at best then we know Conte wasn’t given what he was promised and will go.

No pressure then.

It's just impossible to do serious squad building work in January on a budget that's not unlimited. The summer will be the test for sure.
