One thing that is really winding me up about Conte. Is Spence. That 30min cameo he had shows he’s going to a monster of a player. He has it all. Height, strength, speed, power, dribbling, heading. not sure if he can cross or shoot yet, but he reminds me Gareth Bale a bit at first. If he doesn’t play against Leeds I think a lot of fans are going to be really disappointed. He’s head and shoulders better than docherty and royal!
Spoiler alert: they're going to be disappointed

My main gripe with Conte is that when we lose he rolls out the "project" and "patience" lines but then fails in any kind of way to try and develop Spence.

The boy has talent, the boy wants it, he is no shrinking violet and we have a problem at RWB.

I just can't get my head around it.

p.s Also the dropping Kulu seems to me a failure of seeing what makes his own team tick.
Dropping Kulu ?? I don't get it ?‍♂️

I could never not watch us. Its my team so I support them through thick and thin. We have no given right to be great so why select to only follow when we're great? That's kind of glory hunting to be honest. If you can't follow through the tough times I'm not sure you should get the luxury of the good times. We're in top 4 and next stage of CL too so not exactly like the worst days even.
I watch football to be entertained.
I have no affiliation with North London whatsoever but I chose Spurs as the team to support back in 2010. I'll always be supporting the team, buying merch, and going to as many games as I physically can but with the way the club is going right now, I choose to let other things in my life take priority.

The club and the performances affect me a lot. These poor performances often ruin a whole day for me, even a weekend sometimes. It's not worth it at that point.

Hopefully he uses this break to demand signings in defence in Jan.

It’s always the same players who let every manager down.
Agree... that's why I hope the stadium will be rocking against Leeds... we need a victory and positive vibes in the last game before the World Cup. Conte needs us... and we need Conte. So he can work his magic with Paratici.

Oh come on... Bale comparison after one dribble in a 30 min cameo against Forest's second team? I know we all want to see him and I know we all want him to do well, but let's not try and big him up as if he is the saviour of the club.

And you haven't been entertained under Conte... ?

I didn’t say saviour. I said very early stages of when Bale signed for us. Did you see you what he did to martinelli last season in the cup for Forest? He’s got some serious potential.

He obviously does have potential and it is frustrating that he hasn't yet had much of a chance and I'd love it if he became a really great player for us. I just think that he has become this symbol of hope that just isn't justified or fair on the kid.

I think CL football has made a section of the fanbase become entitled. Its weird, as much as I love the CL and qualifying for it, nothing beats weekend football for me, I love Saturday 3pm kick offs.

Conte on coping without Gian Piero Ventrone

"I want to be open and say in these 43 days, not only 13 games, it has been a difficult emotional moment, to lose a person like Gian Piero is terrible, not only for me but for also many players. Many players had a great relationship with him. I think someone had a big loss in his heart.

Life is this and you have to go forward and move on. We continue to work in the same way. Don't forget I brought Gian Piero with me to Tottenham, he had been in China helping Fabio Cannavaro and also Fabio Capello.

The work is always the same. there is a lack of human aspect and his experience, his relationship with the players. You know it was big loss for us."

Worth considering among all the whinging happening about the teams performance...

Exactly.... but it's all about Emerson vs Spence at the moment... for- and against Conte... based on the last two months.

Embarassing... ?

Don't forget what Conte has done for us so far...

I used to let results get to me too. By not getting so wound up now, it helps me in being patient over the current situation. I think that I'd be more sick now at the idea of another in an endless stream of appointments that will put us back to the beginning of a process. People say that they'll be patient if the football is decent but even if it is, I can still people moaning six months later if results aren't what people expect.

You're right. Overall, in the grand scheme of things, it's a game of football. That's all.

The players lost a friend, some lost a very close friend, who knows how it's impacted them as a group or individually. Today any one of us could get bad news, a loved one, a pet, anyone and anything, Spurs soon slides down the scale of priorities when that happens, I can tell you that from direct experience. Life is too short and although I completely understand Spurs has an importance of varying degrees for all of us, I have and will never understand the 'it ruined my weekend' thing that some people come out with. It's. A. game. Don't let it do that to you.

For some reason we're attaching way too much importance to a sport and to a sports team, allowing it to impact our lives far too much and in ways that just aren't fucking healthy. It infuriates and gives joy in equal measure, people need to make peace with that for their own well being.

For sure football has played a big part in my life, but as much as I love it, as much time and money I spent or emotion that I invested, it was and continues to be my choice but it has it's place and one has to control how much you allow it into your day to day life. As important as we think it is (and i'm by no means saying it isn't), some perspective has to be applied. It has to. Otherwise you're letting something you have no control over run your life.

And what with how football is now, doubly so because the odds are massively loaded against the fans of most clubs.

Having said all that. ......

COYS!

PS: I got 99 problems and the Spurs ain't one of them :D

Yeah, me stepping back a bit helps me be patient as well.
I personally doubt we're going to be in a much better position in 2-3 windows time even if Conte stays, not because it's Conte's fault but rather because we've abandoned the method that brought us here in the first place and instead trying to buy our way to the top despite us still being far behind financially.

As I see it we've been trying to patch a winning team together by throwing a bunch of money at short-term signings to win something since Poch got the sack, but I'm of the belief that it's more likely we'll be pushed back to midtable by doing this instead of winning anything and then have to struggle even more to get back into the top.

It's funny, that as much as I love Tottenham, England and football my mood doesn't change depending on result anymore. A defeat doesn't ruin my weekend like it used to. It's a nice escape for 90 or so minutes twice a week for me now and nothing more.
