For the system to flourish we need to have wingbacks doing the same, flourishing. In order for that to happen we need two things -

abilty and consistency

given our only other option is Doherty at the moment, do you think he has more ability than Emerson?
Look at what perisic gives us on the left compared to emerson, I’m convinced have a good RWB would improve performance massively

I'm starting to wonder if our 343 formation has issues when coming up against other teams that play a back 3/back 5.

Back when Conte's Chelsea won the league, hardly any other teams played with a back 3, whereas now its a lot more common and we never seem to play well against then. Might just be coincidence, but it's something I've noticed.

Do I think Doherty has more ability than Emerson? No offence but is that a serious question? Emerson is comfortably the worst full back I’ve seen at this club since Trippier.

I do too, I’m just not 100% sold on Doherty as the other option until January. If Porro was on the other side tonight we would’ve walked that game, which says a lot.

He needs to sort this out.

we have been poor for about 85% of game time this season while playing unattractive football after being backed with players.

I am waiting to see proof to go with his reputation.

Horrific is completely ott.
It’s not, I’ve struggled to stay awake to watch our games we look tired and lethargic every game there’s not an ounce of creativity in this team.

laughable, how poor we are actually name me a game this season that we dominated? Or looked good? Or controlled the game? Or created clear chances.

No I really wanted to know your opinion, I’m on the fence about Doherty. He can be really good at times but if he’s confidence is low than for me, he’s the worst full back at the club.

Just wish he’d play Spence for some minutes, has all the qualities (albeit not finished article) of being the RWB we crying out for

It’s funny but as soon as anyone questions conte’s tactics and team selection there’s a massive over reaction

Everyone is fair game. If someone is doing something wrong why should they be immune to criticism?

Its obvious he is the best manager we’ve had in years and potentially in the top group in world football, but he isn’t using his squad at all. Late subs just seem more reactive than proactive

And what’s it with Royal. Doherty was clearly first choice until his injury and now can’t even get a look in. He is going on about how we can’t play the same players twice a week, but doesn’t seem to want to rotate

I agree with the dropping part but if he starts basing team lineups on media suggestions then we may aswell pack up now

Either way, he needs calling out on Emerson.
Keeps on playing him when we have two other attacking RWB’s (which our formation relies heavily on) & yet he chooses not to play them ??‍♀️

He’s the answer. I would rather Spence gets given the chance than Doherty, atleast until he proves otherwise.

One loss and look at the reaction in here. I bet most of you were frothing for Conte before we had him and just one messily loss and you lose your shit. Fickle bunch aren’t we. :ROFLMAO:
If you have watched our games lately the football has been poor and not to talk about how boring our style is. Defending and countering against every team, if we try to play liek today, we look way of

yes we have won and that makes the Antonioooo crowd happy, but i am bored of the football we play. "to dare is to believe in santa"

this is why, when we play football like this, it is not many losses before crowd gets toxic, because they are frustrated through every game, but get a slight relief when we nick a win

I mean the bar is basically on the floor in terms of quality but Doherty is miles better than Emerson. He was excellent when he got a proper run under Conte before his injury. The fact Conte persists with Emerson when Doherty (and Spence) are better just boggles my mind.

As we are not playing to dominate possession I don’t see your points as valid.

I’ve felt we deserved each of our wins and have drawn 2 difficult away derbies. These really aren’t bad times at all.

Laughable that he’s only bringing on Kulusevski after 70+ mins and then no one else.

I don’t care what anyone says about winning or whatever, I’ve paid £1k this season which I probably can’t afford plus travel for each home game and I just don’t look forward to watching us play. The football is diabolical at times. No desire to go out and play and take the game to the other team.

I go to Spurs to see us attack teams and for entertainment, I’m not getting that atm.

Feeling more and more apathetic about Spurs to be quite honest.
This each journey to the stadium for me is 12 hours plus 120 quid all in and like you I don’t look forward to it at all, it’s like watching paint dry we don’t go after teams at all we just lay off and hope for the best there’s no plan or cohesion it’s laughable no zip to our play at all no pace and no intensity.

Contes Chelsea were like this and towards the end they went even more like this, I’m worried starting to think maybe he’s not the messiah

If we were playing brilliant, free flowing football and people were kicking off then fair enough.

The truth is we’re not. The football is awful and we’ve lucked our way through the season so far.
