I admit I have not read all the posts since the gam so somebody may have already raised it Bit I think Conte when referring to some aspects of players playing for each other relates to "we dont have an nasty players" We need to get nastier to be effective It is a valid point as the team is full of nice guys No Dave Mackay or Graham Roberts (plus some notable ones who have played for other teams) Romero is a little like it but not very good at knowing when to do something so he is often on a knife edge at the end of the game. They dont give it out or take one for the team. It is the type of ( nice) players we have However Conte knew that at the beginning and would I am sure featured in his assessment before he took over
Is he still trying to cajoling the club into acquiring that sort of player

Its more about who dont have rather than who do have

Davies has been a good servant and I certainly feel has been a good signing overall. It’s just, he is one of those players that is 7.5/10 every week. Which is fine but you don’t really trust him up against Salah for instance or the better wife forwards as he is just a bit limited.

Skipp - I don’t get the fuss, Harry Winks Mark 2 for me, rarely scores, rarely assists, mostly plays safe passes, better tackler - the easiest style of player for academies to produce these days seemingly. Ryan Mason was the other before Winks.

Dier - if he is starting next season then we have no chance, the guy should be wheeled out for Europa group games after we have already won the group - that’s al I would trust him with.

Well I think we've seen that mentality earlier in the season with the come from behind wins and rescuing games late on. But according to some its the players that deserve praise for that, yet when they lose or draw like yesterday its Conte.

It's getting boring now but it simply can't be both of those things.
Really don't agree with this at all as both can absolutely be attributed to Conte's tactics

In a lot of the games we've gone behind in he's set us up massively on the back foot, inviting the pressure that is then converted into goals.

And in the game yesterday his changes gifted the momentum back to Southampton when we should have been cruising.

Of course the players deserve criticism for the number of mistakes they are making but then maybe at least change the system to try and take that pressure off and get on the front foot? Or indeed stay on the front foot.

If you set up a team defensively when you know they aren't great defensively then surely you deserve a fair amount of criticism.

And by criticism I mean 'the sack'.

And just to clarify, Levy can also sod all the way off.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

My worry (and I have no itk whatsoever) is that the club have sounded out de zerbi or whoever and they have said a few positive things but it'll have to wait until the summer. So our choices are keep Conte or appoint mason until the season end. The big worry is whoever we've sounded out doesn't actually take the job and we are in turmoil again...

If we were keen on poch or whoever available now then surely levy would pull the trigger. I guess even then poch could say I'd sooner take the job in the summer.
Your concerns are valid and I'm sure they are shared by a lot of people.

Its really worrying that he hasn't been sacked today

If it doesn't happen tomorrow then he's here for the rest of the season unless he deliberately sets fire to Levy's office

Conte took over Chelsea the season after that finished 10th - so I’m calling bullshit on that
With most of the squad that won the title the year before that plus no European distractions...

They imploded in year 3 under Jose because that's what Jose does, but barring a couple weak spots the squad was still top notch plus had the addition of a world class Kante in midfield.

Sacking Conte and paying up his contract only makes sense from a football point of view - business wise it’s not a good choice - guess what Daniel will do

Conte took a team from tenth to the title, in his first season he took us from 9th to 4th - these are facts, dress it up however you want

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

It feels like the 90’s where we had a wide range of managers and they all did a similar level job.

We’re better now but again the board seem to run things in a way that no manager excels and they all get pissed off and it goes sour.

You my friend are talking nonsense. Skipp since coming in for Bentancur has been one of the few days of light in an otherwise gloomy period of performances. Yes he can play a safe pass, but generally, he looks to move the ball quickly, he looks to move the ball forward and he never ever stops running. He is not scared to hit a longer pass and only for poor finishing and decision making from our forwards he would have a few assists. Please don’t do him the disservice of saying he is winks or Mason mk 2!

He’s also an unbelievably good tackler, that challenge he put in on Hernandez in the home leg was right in front of me, came steaming in from 20-30 yards away and got it absolutely perfect.

Love watching him and as you say, better technically than people give him credit for.

6 or 7 of the players need to be gone. Pay off the contract fgs and start woth those who give a fuck and then build. We got another half a dozen coming back at season end. They can go too. We’re carrying too much dead wood and it interferes with everything.
