Coming back from the realisation that neither of the two biggest clubs in the world have much use for your services can be a tough pill to swallow, but that is what Javier Hernandez must do.

I've always liked Chicharito due to living over here in Latin America and although he would help us penetrate this market more he seems really low on confidence. If the price were right I believe that Mauricio could really help restore his confidence as a fox in the box type player.

How much does Manure want for him, especially when they see us as their close competitor for CL. Not much chance of this happening I guess.

He is a better option than Soldado and Adebayor. The problem is signing someone that is good enough but happy enough to be benched for Kane 90% of the time.

I don't really see what he would bring to the team. We struggle to make chances as it is so buying a poacher doesn't make any sense.

He is 27 this summer so still young enough and good enough to command a regular start for a lot of PL clubs. The "problem" we have, in that so many of the "first" team are young, is either getting even younger deputies happy to wait their chance, or oldies happy to sit back and watch for most of the time, but to contribute when called upon. If Soldado could score, he'd be perfect. If Chico accepted that situation, it would be great, and a Spanish speaker to boot.

Don't know how he'd feel playing second to Soldado... But worth a shot!
If I'm a premiership striker and the best deal I can get is playing second fiddle to Soldado, then I would just call it a day because it means I'm not worth shit.

Anyway it's Ladbrokes saying we should go for him. There is no story.

I could never understand why Madrid wanted Man United's fourth choice striker for in the first place.

@KAISERwells You may dislike my post as much as you like – so to speak. Even thinking about signing him is overrating him. It would be like signing Defoe again, only with a foreign name and less womanising powers.

Ok cool, Defoe was great for us when he first signed back in '04, so I'd be well up for this guy if he's going to have the impact you suggest.
