Sorry to post this here but I can't see this thread and others (like the barrios one) when I go into the spurs section. But if I go to the main section and this thread was the last to receive a post I can see the preview and can then click it.

Is there some setting I've activated that hides topics? Or have I taken a hit from the mods?
You've probably got the op on ignore

But then again we'll have a bigger stadium than everyone apart from United, and with much higher ticket prices so may balance out?

Obviously we will benefit once the stadium is open but we were going to see that benefit anyway. Now we are clearly left with extra substantial unforeseen and budgeted for costs, and we are possibly having to write off some future commercial income to pay for it.

I think these "we've gone and recklessly signed a quick deal to pay for the stadium" conspiracy theories I see forming tonight need to stop. They wont, but we can but hope.....

The problem is they are not going to stop as we are never going to be told what has happened. Levy doesn’t like to disclose specifics and this leads to people having to guess all the time. The way this deal has been announced today very much leads me to suspect that the income is going to pay for the stadium. If it turns out to be a stadium naming rights deal then fine, the purpose of that was always believed to be for payment towards the stadium but if it’s just an extension to the current kit deal and it goes on the extra stadium costs then it is undoubtedly an unforeseen loss in commercial income that will lead to us having lower purchasing power in the coming years. Hopefully I’m wrong.

Let’s be honest when it comes to finance Levy and his advisers probably know a shit load more than anyone on here and I’m sure will have done the best thing to protect their investment which equates to them doing the best thing for the long term future of the club. When it comes to the clubs finances I sleep a lot better at night than I do compared to matters on the pitch.

I think we'll operate as we always do. The size of the pot is irrelevant. If the club find the deal for a player acceptable it will be done.

I suspect the kit deal will be more about the off field stuff, growing and consolidating the business over the foreseeable future, which in turn impacts what money is available to strengthen the team.
I would be shocked if we see any significant outlay in January or for several seasons.

I trust Levy. He is an astute businessman I am positively sure they've looked at the numbers and factored in adjustable market rates. However nobody can tell the future so therefore Levy has probably done the best deal possible now.

We'll definitely do things differently to others we actually have a model we are currently working to and with increased revenue we can competively compete.

That’s an incredibly naive take.

ENIC will almost certainly sell up not that long after the stadium is finished. Pochettino will be on enormous bonuses for hanging around and seeing it through till then.

The chances of ENIC being in charge in 2033 is highly unlikely and by then they won’t give a shit about our long term future. This idea that all of ENIC and Spurs’ long term goals are somehow shared and entwined needs to be kicked to the kerb

It's a fucking kit sponsor.

You think fans laugh at us because of the shitty state of our advertising campaigns? No, the laugh at us because so many people become Junior Levy's when this sort of shit gets announced.

For all the hate he gets with all the annoyingly wrong crap he does, there are a lot of people who want to pretend to know as much as him (rightly or wrongly)

The mind boggles.

I wonder why this wasn't announced shortly after the extension was agreed. Seems odd not to say anything until now.

I think it’s a great move. I love Nike stuff, best sports brand for years.

Levy will have structured this deal right. No concerns about that.

If ENIC are planning on selling the club, they’ll want to extract maximum value. They won’t achieve that by making bad long term financial deals, therefore they obviously do care about the long term, even if it is just in the sense of getting the best price when they sell.

People pay too much attention to stuff that happens off the field. The coverage is overkill.

Don't knock Jordan! His image makes more than you could imagine! If it means Spurs are all over the States due to publicity then I'd happily take some Nike / Jordan corporate marketing bollocks.

I agree, but he's still an arsehole

Right, well if you want to add two plus two and get 7 trillion then I'll leave you to it.

The point is ENIC are an investment company. So they are going to do everything in their power to make sure the club is an attractive buy as possible. Saddling the club with some antiquated deal for 15 years is not going to help their cause in selling the club, which is likely the aim in the next 5 years.

People should always question what Pochettino or Levy do with the club. As long as it’s constructive and unbiased. Neither one of them are mistake free.
