Well to be fair, Luiz can play multiple positions very well, has several years now of top European league experience, and PSG likely was convinced to pay higher before the World Cup and gamble on the chance he might have a good tournament in his home nation and thereby drive the price up even higher. Therefore, I like where you're going, but I don't think it's quite a fair comparison.
True but Luiz still isn't worth close to 50 mil. PSG are a joke paying that.

After vertonghens comments today that he's staying, a partnership of him and Garay would be up there with the best in the league!

If we sell Dawson, Lennon, Sigurdsson and Livermore combined with the £8m for Defoe and this rumoured £20m from RM's CL win last night then there is absolutely no reason why we should not go all out for Garay this summer. It's about time we created a consistent back four and i'd love one of Walker, Garay, Vertonghen, Rodriguez if possible.

I thought it would be quite hard to attract Garay, considering that Man Utd want him as well. But seeing as even Konoplyanka would rather stay at Dnipro to play in Europe than go to Man Utd, European football might be a bigger draw than we think.

The back four you suggested there is the one I have been hoping for a while we'd end up with before the start of next season. Garay will be popular if he has a good WC though, especially considering he was awesome in Benfica's European cup run too.

Yes he'd be hard to get, but we'd have the finance to go after him. If not him then there's definitely other options, I really like the look of Lovren and Fabian Schar, but i'd see the latter as more of a rotation option for now.

If we bought him would we be the first English team to have two players called Ezequiel on the pitch at the same time? Weird.

Did you post this before or after my post re Lovren?! Great minds think alike eh? Lovren AND Garay would be the ideal. One of Dawson and Kaboul could then move on, leaving us with Verts, Garay, Lovren and Chiriches and a fifth back up in the form of Kaboul.

Before :D A fifth choice would be handy but Capoue could do a job. Also Fryers if he stays and maybe Veljkovic. If Jan is staying I don't think we would need (and could afford) both Lovren and Garay.

I think we should be looking for some English talent at CB. I know it comes across a bit xenophobic but I love that we normally have a solid English CB in our team. When Daws goes, then what?

Dawson is rubbish. Just watch the Spurs v Giroud game and we might be playing CL next year.

Any English CBs as good as Garay and are available?

I think not.

I don't contest that. Worryingly there isn't even a "next big thing" English CB coming through anywhere. Gary Cahill was the last decent one probably.
