Ahh yes, already out of oue budget. My knowledge of the lower leagues isn't great but there is probably some decent English talent we can take a punt on somewhere.

Gomez from Charlton would be high on the list but still years away... I really like Eric Dier as a potential squad player now though.

Caulker is the only other competitor to Stones... but slightly older.

I don't contest that. Worryingly there isn't even a "next big thing" English CB coming through anywhere. Gary Cahill was the last decent one probably.
Eric Dier, maybe, although he's been developing in Portugal.

We were linked with a lad called Lascelles at Notts Forest but I don't know anything about him

Looks like he's off to Bayern according to various reports.

Did you post this before or after my post re Lovren?! Great minds think alike eh? Lovren AND Garay would be the ideal. One of Dawson and Kaboul could then move on, leaving us with Verts, Garay, Lovren and Chiriches and a fifth back up in the form of Kaboul.

'One of Dawson and Kaboul could then move on, leaving us with ...Kaboul'? You've decided which one, then? Despite the fact that he was a complete train wreck last season?

I think we may struggle to get Lovren, never mind Garay, and I really don't think either will be happy to play third fiddle.

I'm sorry you didn't understand my post and felt the need to be so critical - I suggested two who could go and yes, I finished with my opinion of who that should be. I don't agree about him being a train wreck and think you are sometimes prone to being overly negative SS57, in this case about Kaboul. But you're welcome to your opinion I suppose, try to be a bit friendlier if you genuinely want a discussion on something mate.

Which I see as a positive

Ah, yes... the old French prisoner in the woods ITK. That's from a few years ago now. Must say i haven't actively followed his progress, anyone else know?

He's still only young (20) and Forest apparently turned down a £5m bid for him from Arsenal last summer.

Why, bless, I understood it perfectly well.

The amount of folding stuff they can offer, not to mention probable CL, are you surprised?

No-one fancy Curtis Davies, then?

He certainly wouldn't be a bad signing imo, but after last season they would want a biggish price for him and given his age, injury issues and some inconsistent form over the years that would probably be too high on balance.
I think he's been a bit unlucky over the years and is a decent player and decent captain but I'd be inclined to look at younger players with potential if we are going to spend the kind of money it would take to make Hull sell, they on the other hand got a great deal for around £2 mill
